Using deep exploration for .obj export

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to succesfully import an .obj file from RH`s deep exploration? When I export from Solidworks to STEP and then in DE export to .obj in Octane, seperate parts (to assign different materials) are merged together (showing 1 dot). Also it is very low poly when loading in Octane, even if in Solidworks I export the STEP in high poly.

when you select an stp file in DE you can choose two methods, right click mouse on the DE file browser: alternate, recommended.

You have to choose alternate because recommended collapse the assembly in one element if saved from SW in stp.

BTW you can explode your model: from the hierarchy right click choose separate mesh.

From SW save your file in parasolids format: x_t

Choosing this file format your assembly will be maintained in DE. In this case "recommended" is the best option.

Well, almost fixed it! Poly`s are high now, goooood.

In DeepExploration I found the seperate meshes, and clicked it.

But...I still don`t see the multiple parts showing up in Octane: I am supposed to see twelve! What am I doing wrong?

in DE assign different materials to each part.

Octane recognize the materials names and convert them as pin inputs

It worked! Now I can assign materials to each part in the assembly.

Does anyone know how come these triangles are showing up?

A friend of mine send me this product: Modelled in SolidWorks200X (he is not sure which version it was). Simple assembly, with transparant plastic parts. He assigned the material in Soldiworks after modelling. (to render it with photoview).

I imported the assembly in Deep Exploration, and assigned materials. But somehow in Octane and DE these weird triangles show up! In SW I saved the model in high poly, and that's it.
I also tried using Moi3D for the conversion but the same problem stays. Also if I delete the transparant material and add diffuse, the problem stays.

never use high poly!

try medium low or medium.

Sometime DE does wrong triangulation using high values.
.

If the geometry is corrupted after the triangulation try the alternate mode or save the model in: x_t (parasolids) or sat (acis)

trying with different standards DE finds the right way.

Well, so far no luck :?

I tried saving from SW into .iges, .asm, step, x_t (DE can`t open it though), sat (acis), and then opening with DE and importing the .obj in Octane, but the problem stays.

I think there must be something wrong with the original file or something?
