Does anyone know what format background HDRI's need to be in? Light Probe?, Lat-Lon? Cross?

I'm thinking it has to be Cylindrical, based on the images that seem to work...Lat/Lon pinches at the edges. More curious in a technical sense, since the manual does not specify which.

After further research, it's looking like equirectangular. Important to know if you are trying to get images to use in Octane. But in terms of conversion, my old version 1 of HDR Shop does not convert to that format. It does not look like v3 does either.

Anyone know of a converter that has more options?

Octane uses equirectangular projection, which is the same as lat/lon projection.

Hm...I have an old bad Lat/Lon image cobbled together from Terragen, then. It pinches on the far left and right like there are two black holes over there. I think it is because I was trying to get some semblance of a 360 image without having figured out how to do it the right way yet. I then figured out how to get a true Cross format image out of Terragen, but now that I think about it, didn't have the time to make a new corrected image.
