Can you not export them to regular UV maps?

You have me curious, what are you using to employ PTEX? when i read about it, it was just a library that you could develope on, not an actual program. I'd love to fiddle with it myself.

And also The Foundry MARI
Here's an interesting video about MARI (not showing Ptex, but a T-Rex with huge textures)

MARI is used at WETA (for Avatar they worked with MARI)
Octane + RIB + Ptex = production proof workflow
Since Renderman support Ptex, people using Ptex have RIB pipelines

I don`t know how u, but i think Ptex it is very need thing. Octane do a photoreal rendring, and result depends from good texture and UV map. And Ptex do a new step to photoreal.
