Hi there and thanks for your replys.
I´m glad you like it!
@evo:
I achieved this look by turning a Displace Deformer which I used on a highly subdivided flat surface to manual orientation turning it very narrow against the surface.
That gave me that typical pattern I searched for. Duplicating the Deformer then gave me the different layers.
Last I put a Hypernurbs on top of the whole deformation to make the appearance more smooth.
In a similar way I produced some debris that I scattered around the scene with mograph.
I hope that answered your question!
Cheers, Silverwing

Actually its slate / schist but maybe carbon looks similar... I don´t know. How did you achieve the model of the ground? looks like carbon, isn't it?

Im super impressed with the "slate/schist" thingy
Very very nice.. I kind of miss tiny micro-scratches on the rings now after seeing the very detailed backdrop. They look too perfect in comparision.. Very nice work!

Man its awesome
asus p8b ws [email protected] RAM-16gb and 3xGTX580 3gb I love octane and you guyz doing amazing job for us, THANK YOU
Slate? First thing I thought when looking at the background was lava rock stuff... Is that maybe the same thing?
Apart from that; nice work!
A little few things though (well you have to keep impriving right?):
The gold on that golden ring does not look very polished.. and you would expect that from a golden ring..
And it'd be nic if you made the cables on the lightbulbs a different material than the fittings, More matte for instance
But yeah! keep on going, it looks nice allready!
