i just mean superbasic things... like the one u posted on the c4d plugin thread :
"4. If the geometry changed in your C4D scene: Save the Octane project. Close Octane. Reexport the C4D scene to the same project name. This will update the geometry and re-open Octane."

a simple right click - reload mesh command would be such a nice thing :)
or even better if octane wouldnt open twice on exporting again from c4d but would recognize the mesh update .)
or the glass shadow thing.
or that a double click on an ocs does open octane but not file. (on mac)

i know that are small things...
but i'd prefer to have the developer optimize the way one can work w the program as it is first,
get rid of glitches & make it nice to work with before putting all resources on implementing new features as instances etc.
hm but gosh i really dont want to be a nagging guy here... :-|

the other gpu rendering softwares can let the sun pass through glass panels.

They don't use bidirectional path tracing, I think it's a trick in the rendering kernel.

We definitively need implemented this feature.

Now I'm working on a crystal skyscraper, impossible to render it with Octane because the sun doesn't pass through 3 layers of windows.

You can export the mesh only in the C4D plugin and then do the relinking manually in Octane using the mesh update button. This way you don't have to close/reopen Octane.

This is unfortunately non-trivial. I don't want to make any promises, but we are looking into a solution for "architectural glass". This would work for glass sheets, but for example wouldn't provide proper sun caustics through a glass vase, which is not possible with the current kernels. We have two ideas to work around the issue, but I can't say yet if they work.

Well, workflow issues are not small things. You can see that in the number of integration plugins currently available for Octane after having the SDK available for a 3/4 year (umm ... 2). The way how the export plugins work in Octane currently, was a decision made in the past. The idea behind it was to have the most simple way to get stuff (mainly geometry) into Octane. This allowed the plugin devs to have a export plugin ready fairly soon without too much work. The downside is of course, that this approach has serious limitations which are almost impossible to overcome.

But yes, I agree that in the end, workflow is very important and it will be more in the focus of our development, especially since the feature side of things is getting there and we have now more man power available than over the last months.

It's called "architectural glass" and we may provide a solution for this (can't promise though), but nice sun caustics through a glass vase wouldn't work that way. I just want to say, that we are aware of this issue (see my other post above) :)
