Would it be possible to get a non instance test build with the other new features (falloff) so I can start using them in my production workflow? Would rather not use the new build cause it is buggy and slower, but I still want to use some new features.

Hi roeland, any news on the Kepler build, I whitched from 3x gtx 580 (3gb) to 3x 670 (4gb) and dropped from 45 ms/s to 24 ms/s ( tested with the benchmark scene from Legrazi)and that's too much for my taste!
Is octane waiting for CUDA 5.0 or can we see any speed improvements soon?

@perry123

I have seen them say a couple times that they are waiting for CUDA 5.0

is it only me, or do gradients not work for environment? I'd like to use simple vertical gradients there.

A gradient maps a certain input value to an output color, you need to give it some input texture (try a turbulence texture for instance).

For a vertical gradient use a saw wave texture.
  • Change the scale input type to a "transform" with the combo box.
  • Change the scale input of the transform to float3, and set X and Z to the minimum value. This will stretch the saw wave so it becomes a vertical gradient.
  • Change the scaling Y value to 0.314 and the translation Y to 1.001 to align the gradient.
  • You can rotate it 180° around X or Z to have the brightest part atop.
If you want to have a coloured gradient, you can use this saw wave as the input for a gradient.

Win7 x64, after installation, a message appears - "Unable to determine network connection type - Please contact Refractive Software Support". :?
