please note that AI Denoise works only with few Beauty passes, so Render Layers, or Lighting Layers, for example, are not affected by AI Denoser.
You should need to render the black shadow pass with AI Denoiser turned off, greater Max Sampling, and Adaptive Sampling enabled.

The core devs are working to have an AI Denoiser pass on top of AOVs for future.

ciao Beppe

But increasing my sampling doesn't make any difference.
I'm already rendering at 3.000 Samples? It doesn't seem to behave like normal render noise.

There's several topics in the past about this same issue where it was fixed in Octane 2018.1?

Hi paypal-ict,
please try to export the scene to Standalone, and check if you have the same behavior.
If yes, please post the scene in this discussion:
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=77111

If not, please share the c4d scene with us, thanks.

bepeg4d, have written about noisy shadow pass may be several times (no matter with samples max)
I still don't see any changes for the better )
By the way, you gave me a recommendation to DISABLE adaptive sampling
and to the user paypal-ict - you said to ENABLE adaptive sampling
Where is the truth?))

Hi desire,
unfortunately the isue with Render Layer Layer Shadows, or Black Layer Shadows, is not reproducible here from a long time, with or without Adaptive Sampling active, so it is very difficult to help.

Here is the Black Layer Shadows pass at 2048 sampling, without AI Denoiser, Adaptive sampling enabled, and zoomed at 200% in both Live View and Photoshop:

And again, since this kind of problems are not plugin related, but general SDK related, I’m asking you to export to Standalone and share an .orbx file that shows the issue with the core devs in the corresponding Standalone discussion here, thanks:

Happy GPU rendering,
ciao Beppe

Hi,

maybe someone also has problems with Motionblur with version 2020.2-R2?

It works for simple scenes, but with a more complex scene that I am currently working on, the rendering in the PV
has been stuck at "collect" for about 30 minutes now.
Tried several times and always had to kill C4D. Without MB activated Rendering starts after ca. 1 Minute.

Could someone please have a look at this?
Or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you
Mike

There's not any change in plugin for that. Which is the version works well?

Atm. I'm in the middle of a project and don't want to change version. Right now I'm using 2020.2.1-R2
and also started my project with this version. Will test MB with this scene with an older version later.
But when you say, that nothing changed in Plugin-version and nobody else has noticed problems
with MB in 2020.2.1, it must be a problem within my scene!
thanks!

Be good to have the option to turn on and off nested dielectrics in the overwrite kernel settings.

Hi Mike,
please check in Render Settings/OctaneRender/Main tab to have set the Geometry Control to “All Objects Movable”, from what you have written, it seems set to “Auto”.
