just got my new pc! *excited*
are there any recommendations I should tweak in Octane to get the maximum speed for my renders? (Increasing bucket size, etc? )
core 8700K, 32RAM, GTX1080TI
thanks <3
here is a screenshot of the bottom viewport screen. I don't think I'm exploiting the full potential of this GPU:
best settings for 1080TI? :D

strange. I rendered after changing the settings to match yours, and I get this cartoonish-like result:wimvdb wrote:I used these settings:
any idea why?
*update*
changing the coherent ratio to 1.0 caused this. when I put it back to the default it renders normally. but its cool to know I can create toon-like rendering with this tweak :O.

Coherent mode needs at least 500 samples (it starts very noisy).
You could also try to increase the max tile size to 32. That may render faster as well.

testing. I see that even when I render a scene in high res, it barely uses 1-1.5 gigabyte tops from the GPU. any way to use more memory and render faster?wimvdb wrote:Coherent mode needs at least 500 samples (it starts very noisy).

If you have a look at the link in my signature, there is a suggest for the GI Clamp which will reduce firefly's and therefore decrease render time.

Hey there, paul. thanks! I'm looking into your suggestions. a question:face_off wrote:If you have a look at the link in my signature, there is a suggest for the GI Clamp which will reduce firefly's and therefore decrease render time.

2) Increase Kernel->Caustic Blur (to smooth out Specular and Glossy material highlight noise) ---> how much? I'm set at 0.01 (default) and my renders in octane 7500 samples that take 2 hours looks noisier than a firefly render on 1 minute, at the moment (I'll post a separate topic with images only after I'll try everything that you guys are suggesting, cause I feel that this is a render specs + lighting issue. Octane treat lights differently, it seems.)
Core I7-8700K, 32RAM, GTX1080Ti, win10
The link in my signature provides help and a range of options for minimising noise. Caustic blur won't help if GI Clamp is at it default value and your lights are not setup right. So start with GI Clamp = 10 and work from there following the suggestions in my signature.
