Trying to figure out the render layer system while using HDRI environment and catching shadows/reflections

can the shadow pass already have transparency on it.

I really just want it to out put 4 layers. background environment, reflection with transparentcy, shadow with transparency and foreground with transparency. is this possible

I would rather not even have to output render layers and just end up with a final rendered beauty pass with it all composited and done. but the matte object is not working for me.

I have attached my test scene. if anyone can help me get this setup. please

Hi adamfilip,
I have roughly corrected your scene:

First of all, use the object tag with Object Layer ID 2 onto the Sphere, this is your primary object and the center of your interest. Note that by default all the other geometry objects are on Layer 1. Then use a glossy material with a color similar at what is surrounding on a bigger plane:

Then enable the Environment pass in Beauty passes, and the Black shadow and reflection pass in the Render Layer passes, finally turns on the Alpha channel in kernel:

Then in Photoshop, you need only to move the Environment pass at the bottom, and change the Reflection pass to Linear Add:
