Hi guys,

Sorry if this should be in the updates section but I'm not sure it should be included because its just so odd...

I'm having a weird issue with the latest update of Octane. Version 2.24.2 R1

I've updated the Octane stand alone too and I've also got my Nvidia driver updated to the most current driver. Also my C4D is r16.051.

When I render a scene, the lighting seems to be suddenly really extreme... the whole scene looks white. What's wrong here please? ... it was perfectly fine before the update.... I've checked multiple scenes and its the same in every one.

In the image you can see the render viewer is showing all white objects when they should be dark green...

Thanks.

Hi,
from what version have you updated?
There were some changes in the emitter node some version ago, maybe you have the "Surface brightness" option enabled?
Could you share a simple scene that shows the effect?

I was updating from 2.24.1 R3.
I have gone back to that version where things are normal and stable.

I'm not using the emitter node. I am using the Transmission and Medium nodes though... maybe surface brightness is affecting this here? :?

However, I don't see why this should be the reason... surely there would have been a big announcement saying that this would occur if it was the problem?

There is no different between two versions for lightings. Check your settings, auto movable.
Also study what's the effect of a movable mesh against static mesh on light emissions.

...If I render a scene with a new update, should I really have to change my settings to get it to render the same as it did in the previous version? My moving meshes and static meshes were rendering just fine before.... :?

I've gone back to the previous release.... I will try installing the update again at some point... maybe it was just a glitch with the installation.

Again, never we have anything like that. Also it's not related with installation or drivers. Propably you was running without "All movable" and now it's default.

Please put more samples and a scene here or i can't help you.

Hi,

I'm getting the same issue, when I first Send a scene it's lighting is extreme, I have to turn lights on and off again to get it to light properly.

First "Send your scene":

After toggling the lights off and on (this is correct):

This happens in 2.24.2 R1 and also in the 3.0 Alpha build.
@Aoktar: I've sent you the scene via PM so you can see what's happening.

cheers

It's a issue which because of layer texture in lighttag. I'm not sure that's supported well or not with layer+render2shader. Rendering of C4D layer shader that's always a bit buggy. I couldn't made it better. Best to wait OSL and implement it with native ways.

Anyway I'm going to take look for layers again.

Ah yes, that makes sense, I'll bake that out to an HDR in another file and replace the Layer shader.

Thank you Ahmet!
