You were right. I ran the script and it recognized the card. Not sure how to shorten the cable though. I'm going to do more research on it but if you have any resources that would great. I attached an image of the cord. The left side plugs into the GPU and the right side plugs into the power unit.

I should probably mention that I'm running El Capitan.
