Right now (2021.1.6) the default Min value under the shader field in Octane Scatter is 0. This means when you load a shader in, nothing appears to happen until you adjust the min value. This leads to confusion and frustration if you don't know what's happening.
I'd like to propose changing the default minimum to 0.01 so something appears when you add a shader in.
Proposed default Min value change for Scatter

It works fine with C4D Noise shader. It looks like this is checkboard shader only related issue probably because it produce little blurred edges by default.

You're right, it seems like the texture needs to have some gray value in it to work without adjusting the min, but for distribution, it's probably pretty common to use purely black and white values (logos, custom shapes, etc). These don't work when Min is set to 0 (tried with a black and white PNG texture as well - same result). This change would ensure it always works no matter what you're using.
Min. and max. are clamping values. Anything else of these defaults will cause clamping. I don't advice it for defaults

Ok, then if the clamping defaults don't change, is there a way to make it so that by default you see something when you add a black and white texture into the distribution field?
Right now if a brand new user tries this, it looks like it's broken (I know it's not, but it appears that way) when you add a non-gray texture. They probably will not immediately know to start messing with the clamp to make it show up.

Yes nothing is wrong for my opinion as you said. Because logic of the approach is to find which part should be visible in the range. You can change the defaults from Edit->Save as default presetspeltrong wrote:Ok, then if the clamping defaults don't change, is there a way to make it so that by default you see something when you add a black and white texture into the distribution field?
