Hey people, I say I need urgent help because I need to submit this video for an application this weekend and need to start my render soon....

Basically I'm pretty new with C4D and Octane Render. I've made a basic scene in Cinema 4d with plans to export it as a 360 VR video, but I was disappointed that even on my brand new PC (cpu i7 and gpu GTX 1070) the renders were extremely slow (5-10min per frame). Then I found out that Cinema4D doesn't use GPU, which is how I found Octane. I bought the Octane VR for C4D subscription but have been having lots of trouble.

Basically, the renders are still EXTREMELY slow and don't even display a 'nice' image. The colors or lighting is really off, and the resolution is pretty bad too.

Check out these images:

1) This is my scene rendered with the standard renderer:

2) This is the scene with Octane Renderer (just the standard settings it opened with), which took veeery long to render and doesn't look good at all (the distortion is just because its a 360 camera

3) And here is just a simple non-360 render with a basic object and colored lighting.

Am I missing something here? I really don't understand why it is SO slow and doesn't look at all what I'd expect it to. Thank you SO much for your help, I'm really in need here :S

Hi ddeerreekk,
sorry, but I think that you need to study a bit more before using OctaneRender in production.
The workflow and material creation are different compared with standard c4d CPU rendering.
Please have a look at this introductive video tutorials:
https://docs.otoy.com/#28Cinema4D_Plugin_Edition
https://inlifethrill.com/category/tutor ... ne-render/
They are for v2, but the same concepts are valid also for v3. Please, avoid to use c4d shaders.
Happy rendering,
ciao beppe
