Is it possible for someone to describe the process of exporting a panorama picture (360) to HTC VIVE from the Archicad plugin?.
What are the settings at the plug in that makes this possible and what is the export format?
Are we going to need any other app or software to process or play this photo (or video).
We are using the Virtual Desktop from Steam to play 360 videos or panoramas but should we use something else that is compatible with Octane.
Thank you in advance for the support.
EXPORT TO HTC VIVE Help needed
virtual desktop should support our format (it ships with an Octane stereo cube map image).
Ok .
I realized that the import process is completed through the enviroment editor where the OTOY import picture is selected.
I still see a black screen at the glasses show I guess something is wrong with the export settings from the archicad plugin in.
I use resolution 1/12 and stereo output side by side. What I have as maximum resolution is 8000x666. I cannot get more to 18K through the plugin is this a problem?
So far I only get blank glasses with the Vive.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Jasonr,
regarding VR and ArchiCAD, the 8k film resolution limit is an issue.
The workaround is to export the scene in .ocs or .orbx, open the file in Standalone click on the Render Target node to start rendering, and change the resolution value in the Film setting node to 18.432 x1.536: ciao beppe

Thank you so your for your answer.
This worked in a couple of projects but it seems in some work files Archicad crashes when I try to export to orbx file. It also crashes with ocs.
An orbx file is created with 0 bytes or in some cases with some MB but it is incompleted and cannot be loaded at the standalone. (It crashes)
I do not know if this is a bug of Octane or there is something wrong with the files. I tried to clean everything. I even merged the file to a clean Archicad Template and deleted all proxies and textures without result.
Is there any workaround to this case?

Hi Jasonr,
just to clarify, did you start to render before exporting?
If the scene is loaded in GPUs without errors, the .orbx file should be created with no issues

Everything now is OK.
The archicad file contained a texture that caused the orbx exporting to fail. I had sent Paul the pln file and he didn't have any problem so I was sure that it was a file case.
Now everything works.
When I am "in the cube" it seems that everything is a little out of scale. (bigger than it should) Is there any setting to make things smaller (view angle, height or anything else).....?
Thank you.

Hi Jasonr,
OctaneRender works in meters, if the scale has been correctly translated, everything should be in place, you cannot change the view angle.
edit: I forget to mention that you need to check the Eye distance value, the default should be 6,5 cm, or 0,065 m.
If you have a different value you can have a different scale perception.
ciao beppe

Thank you beppe. Your help is valuable.
Is there also a setting for height. I mean I am 1.80 and I want to stand to look around the 360 view and have the feeling that I am standing on the ground and the ceiling is 3m.
How do I set this. In some first exports it feels like I am above the ground. Should I set this in the archicad camera settings or is there a seeting in octane for the height.
Thank you
