Hi,
I have a couple of questions.

1. I have not been able to shade an object that would be strong color + strong reflections, like copper (http://homegardenvibes.com/wp-content/u ... 5_rwet.jpg).
When I try to shade the object, the reflection is good but the orange color is gone, or the color is good but the is no reflection.
See this one :

Do you guys have advices of how to do this? Is there a node for "boosting" up the diffuse color or something?

2. There is something weird about the bump map. I have a bean bag seat that has a diffure material of a fabric. The diffuse channel has an UV map of the brown fabric. Everything is nice, soft correct shadow. When I set the UV bump map (same size as diffuse map), the shadows turn sharp, harsh and ugly. What could be the problem?

This happens with many objects, especially with sofas, pillows, etc.

3. I read often about using HDRI-lightning in INTERIOR vizualizations. I understand that using HDRI-maps in outdoor scenes and for example in studio setups is great for producing nice reflections and lightning, but for INTERIOR scenes I don´t get how HDRI should be used. How does the HDRI as an enviromental map light interior scene when there is walls and ceiling in between the enviromental map and the room?
Can someone explain, how the HDRI maps should be used with interior scenes, thanks!

Octane is a physically based rendered. The materials have the energy conserving law, which means that reflection and diffusion are mutually exclusive. If you need strong colored reflections, your glossy material must have a low diffuse value. Also be aware about the refraction index parameter.

Your shading problem with the bump maps is a known limitation of the current 2.2 Octane shading architecture. It is better to use normal mapping or even better and more realistic, apply the bump map as an Octane displacement with a small displacement value. The render is going to be a bit slower, but the lighting quality is a lot better.

Thanks Juanjgon,

I didn´t realize I should use color on the reflection value. I thought that I should use only white-to-black values. That was the problem.
I got a better copper-material now.

Anyone here use HDRI to light interior vizualisations? Could you please give some tips of how you use it and what are the advantages?
