How do i make fake glass in Octane? Im making a lantern that will illuminate part of a scene and the specular glass material really eats the light and makes t impossible to use a light source. . If i remove the glass from the lantern the ligh looks good. I wannt the glass to be still visable but the light pass right through it. I think this could be done in Cycles by turning off transmission or refreaction ray. can´t remember which. In Octane i have tried changing to mesh type scatter and the turn off shadow and camera ray but this does not affect the light. There is no option to turn off transmisiion or refraction ray. Its like the glass is still there even though the camera can´t see it.
I have fake shadows enabled. Also tried to make a fake glass with glossy material and set the opacity to 0.2 but it was just a little better than the spec material when it came to destroying the light.

Hi, there are many ways in Octane to get such materials:
1. Select "Fake Shadows" in the specular material shader, this is for architectural glass.
2. Mix glossy shader with diffuse shader and turn down "Opacity" of the shader.
3. Use glossy shader with falloff node.
On the cube is a DB material, change it with mix_fake_glass.
Most effective is specular with "Fake Shadows".
Cheers, mib.
