Hi i wanted to create 2 other duplicate of a wing to fake motion of wings. To do this i created a scene subset of the wing, because i want each wing appear on the same location. When ever i put the second wing into the scene i cannot apply any material to the scene. Some times the first wing loses material too. The figure becomes white and its not possible to see the figure in Octane Render Materials tab.
Just encountered the same problem today.
Created an object, textured it in DAZ and saved it as prop/asset.
After creating a new scene ad adding the prop into it. It is shown in the plugin and i can assign materials. When I add another one it is added as plain white and in the plugin the scene surfaces for the object disappear. Although the are still listed in the "Linked" part of the window. Adjusting them there has effect on the original prop but there is no way to set/adjust materials on the new copy of the prop and it remains solid white.
Edit:
Got my problem fixed after reading this in different thread:

Yeah this has been an issue for a bit. Can't wait till the update resolves it.

I definitely hope and hold my fingers crossed as this is one of the most annoying issues I'm having with the plugin. This and the inability to save the materials for later use.larsmidnatt wrote:Yeah this has been an issue for a bit. Can't wait till the update resolves it.

Yes it would be great to be able to save materials with a material preset as far as i know JSON is very flexible, if you can save custom shaders with material presets it should be possible to save octane information, some how. I know its not easy task. I had tried to create a script, converting daz4.5 dsf presets to vray materials.
saving oc mats into character and material .duf presets will be part of the, um, upcoming update.sekopasa wrote:Yes it would be great to be able to save materials with a material preset as far as i know JSON is very flexible, if you can save custom shaders with material presets it should be possible to save octane information, some how. in fact it was not that complicated in terms of code, the more hard thing is to maintain relationships, surface groupings, etc. across sessions when mix- and merging, to make it easy to decide when to apply and when not; and to avoid duplicate ids like discussed in this thread.
i had tested the implementation already a while back, and it looked good. was in general also working with texture atlases, apart from the fact that the background conversion studio starts for any loaded texture did interfere with the map access of the plugin; at least for very big maps...
