Hi acc24ex,
Your suggestion about using separate Gpu for material editor is a good idea to reduce lack, which I agree with you;
I have in the past suggested this to developers; it's something about SDK , so it can not be solved by 3ds Max developers.
A workaround could be using manual update option in 3ds Max material editor.

is equirectangular camera still not supported in 3ds max, or did I miss something?

Is this version compatible with 3DS Max 2018 yet? I am not finding any documentation stating that it is.

Support for infinite planes

You can now add up to 4 infinite planes to a scene using the new plane geometry node. The UV mapping is aligned with the X/-Z coordinate axis, but you can also apply a transformation to the object using the placement/scatter nodes. Displacement mapping does not work on infinite planes.

by the way where do i find it in 3ds max " manual says "new plane geometry node."

@acc24ex,
Incorrect loading of the field-of-view settings in animated panoramic cameras was fixed in SDK 3.06.01
As recommended by other users you could export to SA or "keep upright" in camera setting.
