I was wondering because of the Mac-Version since I have seen that there is Maxwell Render for Mac.
I haven't used the Maxwell plugin - however I don't think it integrates into the Rhino Materials panel like the Octane plugin does.

Hi Paul ..
I have not used Octane for a couple of months and had some trouble getting into it and having to reset size, etc. Now I don't have a direct link to Octane and Otoy materials as I did previously. I can only access materials that are on my hard drive ... unfortunately these are pretty old and not very usable.
Can you spell out for me the way to access the online materials.
thank you.

Hi Erica - it's hard to assist you if you don't tell me what release of the plugin you are using. But try the Rhino Material tab, and add a new Octane material there (from the More Types button) and access the LiveDb materials from the import menu item on the Octane material.

Hi Paul ...
Some other anomalies I can't seem to resolve. Now, when the octane render window is open and rendering everything else is frozen. I can't change the view in the rhino window and have the rendering respond and reset its progress. I have to exit the render widow completely, change the Rhino view and begin the render process again. It used to be more flexible and I could adjust the view from the render window, also, as I remember.
cheers,
eric

Hi Eric - I have never hear of that happening (and there is no way the plugin could stop Rhino from allowing you to change the current Rhino Viewport). Might you have accidentally clicked the Lock or Lock Viewport buttons on the Octane Viewport?

Hi Paul

Red faced! The problem was that I was getting the Rhino viewport, not the Octane viewport. I had simply forgotten while I was not using Octane for a time that one has to turn it on. It is not enough to see that it is loaded on boot and that Octane is clicked as the selected render tool.

Now all is well.

Thanks
eric

I have updated the installer at the top of this thread with:

3.6.1.83
- Compiled with Octane 3.06.1
- The plugin will now ask for an environment missing texturemap
- Added "10%" to the Viewport Zoom combobox
- When changing the Viewport zoom combobox, the plugin will now attempt to set the scrollbars such that the object at the center of the viewport is centered for the new zoom amount. This is experimental functionality, so pls report any adverse findings on this
- Fixed a number of rounding errors which were leading to the color selection dialog to not functioning correctly
- Changed the Collapse button to always collapse the whole material regardless of which pin is selected

The subscription version should be available from the download page in the next few days.

Thanx a lot Paul!
Octane (Paul) support, the best and faster support I have ever found for a software.

Thanks to Paul, you are the best.
Could you make the new demo plugin for Rhino?
when you update the new version of the time, could you release an official version and a demo version?
Thanks.
