Who are the 1.5 beta testers here?
Before to release the 1.5 I would like to see many intermediate releases because no software is perfect.
Then I expect 1.2.5, 1.3.0, 1.3.5, 1.4.0, 1.4.5 and finally 1.5.0
Releasing directly the 1.5.0 means that Otoy will implement 500 new buggy features. The past can confirm it.

Is there any info, anything, that can be disclosed as to a guesstimate of when next release candidate could be coming?

I can't be the only one who hops on release candidate forum a couple times a day... squirming...

Please Otoy, anything... Even, something like: "..next release should be coming in a couple weeks, if all goes well.." would be wonderful.

With all this suspense, I think Otoy might release Octane 1.6 instead of 1.5, as a surprise! :D

mmmmh
Sleeping Otoy...
I remember updates on every Monday...
...very strange...
I need: displacement, AO pass, target ies, noiseless ies, alpha on specular mat.
STOP
the rest is ok.

I assume they are working hard to get this cloud stuff up and running to cater the VFX industry.
Most of the features we need are not needed in pre-viz. I'm pretty sure Octane will be more tailored to the VFX industry and our field is just a side-income to them. At the moment Otoy doesn't make a lot of income with us users. We paid one time for beta only (I got Octane for 49€ lol) and thats it. Big companies using the cloud solution generate a lot more money.
So I'm not surprised it is so silent. But I'm happy Octane works so well for my daily work.

But all just speculation and my personal opinion. :)

But i don´t think the vfx industry will have a lot of fun with Octane, as long as it has no Motionblur and Alembic. Even with a unique cloud System! Alembic and MB is essential in this industrie, especially for action movies like for example transformers, avengers and so on!

The new fantastic four movie is being made using Octane and the Octane Cloud, so maybe they found a way to get around it?

I apologize if this stuff has already been answered:

Will it support multiple UV sets per object? Ie. specifying a specific UV set per texture? This is sooo useful and can save a lot of VRAM in some cases.

Texture mapping as it is now is very limited, we also badly need automated texture coordinates generation for various spaces: global, object local, camera... this would really speed-up production, as you wont need to UV-unwrap a lot of simpler (static) objects (eg. furniture).
