Is the NVIDIA 9800 GX2 your display card and are you using it for rendering? I reckon it's too slow and blocks the whole system, while rendering.

Cheers,
Marcus
I have 460gtx 2gb
Your signature says that you have a 9800 GS2 and a GTX 480. What exactly is your setup and what is your graphics card used for display (which is important) and which graphics cards are enabled in the CUDA device manager?

Cheers,
Marcus

You mean that with the PMC kernel? The transparency issues should go away at higher amounts of samples/pixel (1000-2000 or higher).

Marcus

I left this one render for about six hours @ 3072 x 2304 and as you can see it's got transparancy problems.

I left the same image render with PT + light portals for 2 hours and I didn't have the transparancy problem at all.

This problem is the most important problem for me: i cannot import one simple cube to octance from blender. The cube is wrong rendered in octane (the geometry is wrong!). If i try to import a simple UV-Sphere, then octane crashes with error message as follows: "ERROR: Program executed illegal instruction.. terminating."

There has to be a problem in my installation, but i cannot solve the problem. Could you give me a hint what could it be?

Greatings, Stephan.
Do i need to install the cuda driver for linux as well? I could not find one for linux. Did anybody get same problems? Perhaps octane don't work in ubuntu 11.04.

Greatings, Stephan.

Install the Cuda Toolkit 4.0 for Ubuntu from here:
http://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-toolkit-40#Linux

I haven´t test it for Ubuntu, but for Fedora Core 15, I downloaded the version for FC13.
It should also make not a difference, which Ubuntu version you use.

Also the Cuda driver which is 275.x

You don´t need the dev driver from the Cudapage

I now installed the newest nvidia-graphic-driver 275.xx. The CUDA-Toolset 4.0 is installed as well. It is shown in the preferences of octane render. But i get exact the same problem. The cube is wrong again and it is not possible to render a sphere, because octane is crashing then.

Other ideas?

another observation: the example scene "Spaceship" makes problems as well: spaceships are not shown on the plane. There is only the plane without spaceships. What could be the problem?
