@coilbook
I did some tests, personally I think the fuel as in the video you shared, is not the fuel in phoenix FD.
I think there was a misunderstanding in the fuel concept.
As in the example of chaosgroup:
https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/PHX ... tion+Setup
https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/PHX ... UnitsSetup
As you can see in my screenshot, the fire with fuel produces particles as well.
I think you think about fuel as something like a flamethrower:

In this sense I think goldisart is right.

"Use production resolution" is buggy - works whenever it wants, have to click on and off everything else all around for it to work..

Hi acc24ex,
The issue was previously identified and already sent to developers.
Thanks

I dont know. I thought that white propane gas in the video we saw is the propane gas that has not ignited yet, which is fuel. Maybe one day otoy can make it renderable.
I think you can use fuel for flamethrowers etc but our goal is show leaking propane gas that is visible when it is coming out in large quantities and then it ignites .

Here is another video of white propane gas as a rendrable that is visible before it is ignited https://youtu.be/SAUAThIKnCk?t=17s

Thank you.

Hi coilbook,
I think phoenix fd fuel does not work that way;
anyway, if you have scenes or videos to share with phoenix and vray with gas that has not ignited yet, or something like that,
I could study it and figure out if it depends on the Octane.

hi Pardie
this is the scene. The same one i sent before on the left is the fuel that is coming out before it is lit. If you simulate the scene you will see that the fuel ignites once it touches the fire ball on the right

I think you are also right you can use fuel to create a flamethrower or a mixture of oxygen and fuel for different ignition effects, But in our case we want to create a rapture in a giant propane tank and show how white propane gas is escaping which is fuel before it is lit. Most gases are invisible so you wound need renderable fuel but in our case large concentrations of gases escaping fast we need fuel renderable. I know in real life when propane is visible it is still a very cold liquid turning to gas but phoenix cannot turn liquids to gas so visible fuel is the only way to show it. Renderable particles look too fake and adding smoke to make it visible pollutes pure fuel burn effect.

Here is another video: https://youtu.be/SBDruUxb4yg Here you can see white cloud of propane as a visible fuel before it is lit.

Would be nice to have separate channel textures: one for fire and smoke, fuel and RGB

Thank you!

FEATURE SUGGESTION: make the material previews render on different GPU other than the main one

- this one actually seriously affects performance - each time a change to material is made, it stutters twitches and takes a second or a few to regain flow - if you tweak materials a lot (like we all do) it's annoying and twitchy, so I disconnect the preview option.. (not happy with that) - but if it updates silently on the rest of my 4 gpus, that would be great for improved experience

- please take note

- other than that, and noted bugs, you guys are doing great, octane is performing like a champ, my system and octane feels very solid (with what I'm using).. using all the layer features finally - they are way awesome, I can approach product renders with new pipelines now..
- I'm running - like constantly now for a month, 3-4 3dsmax instances opened, each with it's own project, rendering one render per gpu and leaving it overnight - and I haven't had a single crash (ok 1, after I installed 1080ti for main gpu, and after reinstalling new drivers it's OK - and it seems to perform much better without reducing priority on the gpu) .. running at 100% for weeks 0-24 without barely crashing max (all recoverable), no crashing windows..
- octane runs great - keep on giving us best you got, we appreciate it
(and get off the fstorm issue, use the paychecks for the lawyers and hire more 3dsmax devs, that will be better for your reputation and much better for community) - you need more development energy here

- I've got 500+ projects with octane made, I'm not gonna switch to anything any more, as long as you provide users like me with great tools you can count on people like us to preach and become some influencer force..
