the attached object still makes Octane crash at load time. I know this is bad geometry, but no reason for executing an illegal instruction :-)

Code: Select all

lionel@pc-lionel:/opt/OctaneRender$ ./octane
ERROR: Program executed illegal instruction.. terminating

Thanks for that and I will have a look at it, when I get to it.

Yup, that's what I thought. I think I have already an idea how we can implement it the Octane way.

Marcus

I'm still getting all (most) of my macro to mesh connections messed up, when I add or remove a material in Blender and then re-export. I thought this was solved? I'm using Blender2.49b with the official exporter.

Another annoying little thing is that textures have power of 0.9 when you create them. It's tedious to always correct this to 1.0 and you can also forget to do it (and notice that your object has messed transparency because of this, only when your render is halfway done, for example...)

Hi, As said in a post, I can't work too much this week because of some health troubles, and I have not yet looked at the 2.43.

 I'd just want to make a suggestion : Could it be possible to add a Shift option (offset) for UV textures, like the one available for procedural textures ? Sometimes it would be helpful when you notice that a texture is not perfectly tileable : you could shift the texture to put the visible seam in an area where it is not or less visible, without re-making the texture.

Thanks in advance !

can only advice you to use yoyoz 2.56 onofficial one!
got non of them problems mentioned by you above since i use yoyoz script in combination with 2.43:))
also the texture power is set to 1 with yoyozs one ;)

give it a try and tell me if you still got problems.

regards dave

Yes, I had planned to completely abandon 2.49 after I finish the render for the competition. Good to know that those problems don't exists with the unofficial exporter. Thanks! :)
