As far as I know it is a bug in Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.9.0.44.

How it is supposed to work

The intended way to merge scenes is to use

- File / Merge

- - -
- File / Open
- File / Open recent
normally should delete all content in the scene.
- - -
Possible workaround:

- Use File "New" to clear the scene.
- then use "open recent"

Access to private builds for developers?

Guess normal customers can do nothing but to wait for the next DAZ Studio public beta build.

Maybe as a developer you can ask DAZ3D to get access to private beta builds as well?

There is an option in the DIM (Download and Install Manager) to display and download Private builds as well.

But I guess the private builds only show up when DAZ3D makes them available for your DAZ3D account.

Kind of random, in case anyone did not know...
but there is another Materials Export button in the SYSTEM Tab of OcDS, which allows export.
I had on our issue list in the other threads because I was trying to export using the export button on the MATERIALS Tab. But the SYSTEM Tab one works.

The last 2 scenes I made, I noticed when I closed out and reloaded, the mats were saved in OcDS and I didn't have to redo them. That never happened before in the pre-face_off days, but whatever...GREAT!!!

Hi Paul,

Just installed the 2.24.2.3. Installation had no issue. I am still getting material loading issue. Attached the screenshot. DAZ Viewport has the material applied to the top, OR Viewport does not. Also faced the input focus issue once.

Another issue with the material conversion. The dress is a Black and White dress and in DAZ Viewport it showed correctly. But in OR Viewport, the black part has a Brown color. I saw a Transmission , absorption, scattering being added to the dress in Octane and that is causing the color to shift.

One other thing I noticed, if you look at the 2nd image (MaterialIssue2), Look at the expanded view of the DATM_Jumper (The top used on the first image) and Arleya Dress (Used in the second image) surface (Right side of the image), there seems to be a separate 'Diffuse' node for DATM_Jumper whereas for the Arleya Dress, it is part of the General node. I think whichever dress the diffuse is a separate node in the original DAZ material, Octane gets it as a Mix Material with the Diffuse set to off white on the first material. In the diffuse node for the DATM_Jumper, there is only one entry and that is the Diffuse Color with texture set.

I don't see any Diffuse Map specified in the DazStudio material in that screenshot.

The have refreshed the installer at the top of this thread with:

2.24.2.4
- Suppressed "One or more GPU(s) don't occupy the highest Power State (possible degradation)!" log message
- Fixed issue introduced in 2.24.2.3 where prop translations were not being applied when opening the Viewport with Live disabled
- Improved conversion of Iray materials with opacity maps
- Removed the creation of material mix nodes when there are both normal and bump maps. Normal map is used if there is one, otherwise the bump map is used (if there is one)

If you have existing material conversion issues, pls test against this release, and if they still exist, let me know.

Hi Paul,

I am attaching the material screenshot for the DATM_Jumper top. As you can see, it does have a Diffuse node, but as a separate node and not inside the General node.

So the diffuse material is set. Hope this helps.

May be programmatically you can add a logic such that you can do a quick scan for Diffuse material in the DAZ nodes, if only 1 is found, you create a normal merged (DAZ General+Diffuse) diffuse node in Octane and not create a Mix Materials. If you find the count is > 1, you create a Mix Material.

Hi Paul,

The second issue is still there. The dress is getting unexpected color.

Not sure why the Medium node was automatically added with those colors changing the color of the dress.

Maybe the issue is that Octane is still doing a Mix Material node for this dress and the first node has the Medium set. The second Glossy node has the correct Diffuse Color and map. So again it may be the issue of Mix material nodes getting created when there should be only a Diffuse/Glossy node being created.

Hi Paul,

The first issue is resolved. I tested the DATM_Jumper again and the material converted properly. This time it created only glossy material instead of the Mix Material.
