I'd invest in getting things to work properly. And by work properly, I mean get more frequent regular updates and a working response to issues with the plugin. For me, it's a waste to work harder. If it meant paying so I could increase efficiency, I would do it. I don't like the idea that this would be the answer, and I would imagine doing it in a group context and on a one-time supplemental basis. But net-sum, it'd be worth it to be able to do more with materials converting auto and having a less fidgety UI.

I am wondering if it is $ that is holding this up, as I had independently recently posted in the Forum, to be silly, a topic entitled "XXXTane Render", in which I poked fun at the statement:

Strictly via text, in it I basically joked that I would never have imagined doing such a thing, and that whoever in OTOY wrote that should get their mind out of the gutter. And, it got about 50 views and then it disappeared SAME DAY, either by moderated decision or systematic-protocol. Now, it was a stupid post, so I don't care. But what was interesting to me is that it showed me, to OTOY's credit, that OTOY could act swiftly and decisively if it wanted to, which is great, even encouraging. Different circumstance, yes, but I am wondering what is preventing the company from working swiftly and decisively here. I believe it wants to. If it was about subsidizing $ to alleviate the bottleneck, I would be willing to be a part of that.
In this specific case, the software is not created by OTOY, but by a 3rd party. This requires more time to sort out.

This is not a trivial intervention, nor one we are undertaking lightly. We are committed to a successful and timely outcome for users.

Once the details are sorted out (we are about halfway through the process), we will be able to share exactly what changes are being made.

Thank you all for supporting Octane. We are here to support you too, and are doing everything we can to get this wrapped up as quickly as possible.
Weekly bump. Any update?

Weekly bump? I think we just should do monthly bumps or better yet yearly bumps

Nothing new to report since the last post, other than to say we're making progress. The final timing is not entirely in our hands, but we are doing our best to move things along quickly.

We will post an update with the changes being undertaken as soon as possible.

Thanks for this thread. I just nearly bought the DAZ plugin but luckily I found the tread before doing so. I will not invest any money in it before the problems are solved. Regardless of the fact that the plugin ist done by a third party, it is still sold by Otoy, so my contractor is Otoy and they should definitely be able and willing to solve this in far less time this took. Months. Completely inacceptable.

Without wanting to stir further speculations but this strongly suggests that t_3 was given a fix amount of time and features towards which he is working now to implement.

Smart Idea. Otoy will no longer respond to emails asking for a refund on the Daz Plugin so you made the better play.

Meanwhile, I have learned Iray and am very happy with it. Integration is getting better and pretty much every item in the daz store now comes with Iray shaders .

Is this official?
I'm not sure, but was there ever a return / refund policy to begin with?

With software and serials this is always a tricky matter to handle...

Goldorak, I would welcome a Partner Token as a show of good faith between Otoy and its Daz plugin users, maybe like a 50%-off towards another plugin...
Otoy gets to show off its other products, us Daz plugin users get to expand our participation in the Octane universe while we wait for the Daz one to be sorted out...
I'm imagining C4D, Sketchup, or 3DS Max...Man, tough call, but come on, I'm down...It'd be a win-win!
