That is really odd - can you even get updates to tbe built in apps, like 360 photos? If not, we might be able to sideload our app, but we would need a device ID and a dev to help you with that.Rikk The Gaijin wrote:Any chance to have the app outside the store? I live in Japan, and my GearVR cannot access the store...Goldorak wrote:GearVR lua player app is done. We are submitting it for the store next week. Hope to see it online early April when we release OctaneVR. It loads stereo cube map images and stereo 360 VR movies made in octane, and soon ORBX media files. You just drop files into ORBX folder the app makes on your phone and you can view your own work on it. We will update it to pull VR content from a url including the WB batman project or user images posted to the forums or submitted from the app itself.

No, I can't even get the updates, basically Oculus Japan sent us one GearVR few months ago, and that's it. It cannot connect to the store because the Galaxy Note 4 doesn't exist in Japan.Goldorak wrote:That is really odd - can you even get updates to tbe built in apps, like 360 photos? I can give you the ID if you tell me where to look.

The Otoy GearVR app will be the way to go, but until then this may work:
for each eye
cut the octane cube-map into 6 cubes
rotate the top -90
and bottom 90
rename, see attached horizontal strip cube map with labels
filename_nz.jpg
filename_pz.jpg
filename_py.jpg
filename_ny.jpg
filename_px.jpg
filename_nx.jpg
dump into the GearVR image viewer
so you should end up with 6 or 12 (stereo) image files
it's quite easy to have script to automate the process.
For some reason Samsung appears to render a mirrored Horizontal Cross cube map in the app. I have an image but I wanted to keep the post as clean as possible.
