I tested with Octane 2.58c (Kepler test build) and Nvidia 301.42 drivers; the test system had a Core i7 3770 3.4GHz, and 32GB RAM at 1600MHz.

The results:
DirectLighting 01:04 minutes 9.35 Ms/sec
Pathtracing 03:38 minutes 2.63 Ms/sec
PMC 04:41 minutes 2.05 Ms/sec

You mean the Octane Benchamark by Legrenzi? 16000s/p? DL completed in 1:04 Minutes? well that is WAY fast off my GTX470..OK my Rig is a bit dated but we are talking GPU cores and my GTX470 | cCuda Driver 4.20 Cuda Runtime 4.0 Direct Light complete the render in 15 minutes..something wrong?

edit: maybe I was stupid? benchmark could be the one posted here at 1000s/p? in that case is about a minute and 3.30 PT

These are the numbers for a GTX680 (from EVGA, not overclocked) with NVIDIA driver 302.59.

Benchmark trench, all kernels have alpha shadows switched off.

DirectLighting: ∙ 9.18 Ms/sec
Pathtracing: ∙ ∙ ∙ 2.67 Ms/sec
PMC: ∙ ∙ ∙ ∙ ∙ ∙ ∙ ∙ ∙ 2.02 Ms/sec

What is the clock speed on your GTX 670?

I have the 580, so will the 590 double my render speed?

Great topic, thanks for the hard work!

I was looking for another GPU for the desktop, and this really helped comparing the ones within budget. I ended up with a 2nd hand GTX570 for just 180 euros. Which is a steal for a student like me!

On a side note, I am constantly amazed at the insane PCs you guys have. Haven't seen it like that anywhere else.

I took a secondhand gtx580 1.5GB for 200 euros :) Now waiting for another bargain like that.

With my GTX 580 3GB, the benchmark scene renders:
3,65 Ms/sec. Not the 4,41 as described at the beginnig of this thread...
How can that be ????

the chart reads 4.14, apart from that you also need to read the footnotes (there's a reason, why exactly that line is grayed out ;)), and take into consideration, that the chart is over a year old, done with octane 2.48b.

since i now own 580s, i can tell you that - at standard clock, but with the latest nvida driver (what can make a difference) - 2.48b renders this scene with 4.02ms/sec, whereas 2.59 does 3.98ms/sec. so your 3.65ms/sec are not that much off, but imo it should be faster...
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

Octane Render works about 5% faster under newest nVidia driver 306.23. Do you also have such speed up?
3090, Titan, Quadro, Xeon Scalable Supermicro, 768GB RAM; Sketchup Pro, Classical Architecture.
Custom alloy powder coated laser cut cases, Autodesk metal-sheet 3D modelling.

on what card?!?

funny enough, when i posted the above, i used 2.59 + 301.42 and had around 4ms/s;
after installing the new driver i only had ~3.85ms/s - switching back to 301.42 - still 3.85ms/s :?:
maybe, that is the way how nvida is going to make the 6xx cards faster than the 5xx ones ;)

hey, i want my 0.15ms/s back... rebooting...
