[Unsupported] Blender plugin v1.xx - Code
Hello, i was wondering if there is any possibility to export a scene from blender, then make all the material nodes in octane. Save it. And later export again scene from blender witout overwriting "the octane material nodes". I need a lots of renderings, and i thought an animation would make my job easier ( i could sleep more
). Just set the materials at first frame, and then start an animation. I need 20 frames for each obj i'm rendering....

This is exactly how the export DOES work. Unless I've misinterpreted your question. If you export a scene then the materials will be taken from blender. You can then amend these textures in Octane and save the .OCS file. The next time you render, only any new materials will be imported from Blender, the rest will pick up from the OCS file.tibicen wrote:Hello, i was wondering if there is any possibility to export a scene from blender, then make all the material nodes in octane. I guess the exporter doesn't support particles, yet? I have a plane emitter with some (object visualization) particles, but it doesn't export them (all objects are render-able and visible). I would like to avoid applying the particle system each time I (re)export. Is there a way?

I didn't find another way to get the geometry of particles. It seems this is managed by the render engine itself and not exposed to the exporter... This is pretty annoying as the particle modifier has a huge performance impact.

Hi Lionel
I just tried to install your plugin to blender but for some reason, it stopped at this point; the box at the the render point in the installation was not available to be checked.
I have attached a screenshot.
Could you, at your convenience, tell me why this is happening and any suggestions you might have?
Thank You,
Isaac

Currently it's not possible to export particles. You should apply the PS, remove the emitter & export.petenoli wrote:Hi Lionel,
I am having trouble getting a particle system to render without showing the emitter, any ideas?
BTW, the Yafaray exporter for Blender 2.58 is already able to export particles, so I guess it the API changed and now it's possible to access particles from Python? The Yafaray exporter has also the neat ability to export hair strands, by converting them into triangle tubes... hint, hint...
