I just tested this and noticed that the shadow visibility toggle works with HDR Environments when you are using a .hdr file for the rgb or grey image options. If you are using greyscale, rgb colour, or a non-hdr image, a .tif file for example, then the shadow visibility toggle does not work.face_off wrote: 2.24.2.3
- General Visibility and Shadow Visibility Properties now work for figures/actors. Pls let me know if this has an adverse effect elsewhere

Awesome work with the plugin so far, Paul! Thank you so much and keep up the good work.
I've just installed 2.24.2.3 and it's working nicely, didn't encounter any problem installation or activation wise.
The new skin conversion method is also working well, for the most part. For human skin at least, both IRay and 3DL presets seem to convert well all across the board, from Genesis to G2 to G3. Haven't tested them all but so far I'm pretty pleased.
For hairs it appears some Iray presets convert fine and some still don't. In my case, one instance is with Christina Hair by OOT; using IRay presets will give the hair prop a "blank material" look in the OCDS viewport, but any of its 3DL presets convert fine.
I've also encountered a strange issue with the ray epsilon slider. Its default value is 0.00003, changing the value and then moving the camera (current view) while the OCDS viewport is open/active will snap the Ray epsilon value back to the default value. I doubt that this is normal behavior, I hope not.
I will do some tests with animation as soon as I have time.

If you save one of the Iray hair mats as a .duf and send it to me, I will take a closer look. Pls don't send the texturemaps - just the .duf.For hairs it appears some Iray presets convert fine and some still don't. EDIT: thanks to livan i got the resolution for this problem. it has been the rendersettings, who would have guessed that?linvanchene wrote:When you merge .duf scenes by default all unused materials, render settings, and environment presets are added as well.face_off wrote:Unsure what you are referring it with this. Can you provide more details pls?maybe possible to remove that stupid automatic enviroment setting save spam? or some kind of "clear all" button... or to put it on that list? its just annoying

Especially for people who are creating comics or animations in the past this lead to countless duplicated presets that then all have to be manually deleted.
Instead of one "Default Render settings", "default HDR environment", "default daylight environment" they have xy duplicates in the pull down menus.
Maybe someone who has collected a lot of duplicates could post a screenshot?
Because of that people have asked in the past for a "Delete unused Environment presets" and "Delete unused Render settings" button.
This would work the same way as the right click option in the unused materials section "Delete unused materials".

Nevertheless it seems in the OcDS Preferences tab there are actually Scene Loading options:
- Don't load Render Settings
- Don't load Environments
- Don't load unused Materials
- Don't load Project Settings
Those options could in theory be used for the following workflow to remove unwanted settings when loading scenes:
To remove unwanted duplicate Environments, Render Settings and unused Materials
- place checkmarks in the “Scene Loading” section of the OcDS Preferences.
- load the scene you want to clear
- save the scene
- remove the checkmarks
- - -
Does this workflow do the trick for those having issues?
While looking at this I came up with a question of my own:
Anyone knows which exact values are not loaded when you select "Don't load Project Settings" ?
Side Note:
In general a remaining issue might be that t_3 stealthily added a lot of features in the "last beta" that people never actually detected.
There was always the promise that the new features would be explained in follow up posts but then in some cases that never happend.
Some people may have discovered some of those features but because they were never mentioned in forum posts a lot of them are rather unknown to the vast majority of users...

if the "crappy file" is still needed for investigation i could provide it ofc, just let me know
thanks to face_off and livanchene ALL my problems that i had since i started with octane 1.5 years ago have been wiped out withing ONE week now... great work, thanks so much

Quick question....
How do I get DAZStudio to NOT merge a File->Open Recent into my current scene? Is this a DAZStudio bug, or intended functionality? If I load a scene, the previous scene is not unloaded - so the two scenes are merged. DS4.9.
