That is exactly the reason why I do not sign up for closed beta testing.

Knowing about new features and not beeing able to use them for any project and having to wait until they are finally ready would take away all motivation to do any work with the existing version.
Well that's why I stopped rendering for a few months when 1.2 came out. Was so annoyed with its new bugs and the fact that I couldn't use my materials that I kinda gave up and waited till a real upgrade appeared for me. I never invested much into 1.2 and still only use 1.0, so this 2.0 upgrade will be a huge one for me. Right now when I'm using 1.0 I'm like dang, I coulda used that new feature for this

Still waiting for a good version to upgrade :)

Steven
I don't think we ever got a date. But from the sounds of it there were a sizable amount of bugs to fix. That's just what I'm getting reading other's comments in this thread. I know how ya feel though. I tested 2.x for a bit and I'm starting to get anxious to use some of the new features :)
Well I'm not really a person who wanna go through all the new features... I just want a stable version so I can use Redspec on my projects :P
Hope we can get a huge surprise at Xmas

I played with the first version of Daz-Studio, i bought the biggest version of Daz-Studio, i watched how it became a free version. I know what "Soon" means in the Daz-Universe. T_3 does a great job developing something for a program like Daz Studio, given the fact DAZ is not too open about their specs. Just the fact that it will be possible to export Alembic without buying Daz own plugin is just great. But another update in the next days would be great ;)

Perhaps it is a good job as this is for a DAZ product.
But i am not really satisfied with the overall quality of this software product.
I have the choice between a often crashing 1.2 plugin while selecting or changing materials or plugin that do not stop rendering by closing viewport or clicking pause sometimes and slowing the system completly down working to much in octanes viewport.
Both is not satisfying so i can not agree with the good job thingy ;)

I am really looking forward for a stable version.

Considering the circumstances at this stage, I'd say the sooner the better!

For the amount of dollars I've paid, not just for Octane licenses but also for new hardware (GPUs), the long plugin development times and extreme lack of updates that I've endured, not to mention income opportunities that have passed me by because OCDS isn't yet up to do the jobs I require it to do, and consequently made me look like an idiot in front of prospective clients... I can't say that the dev's been doing a "good job".

The 4th pre-release undoubtedly introduced new nice tools to play with, but with them also a new set of crippling bugs to contend with... I can hardly call this "progress" at all. Things that were working well in 1.2 are now broken in 2.12 and whatnot. The autofocus randomly locking itself out, objects getting incorrectly positioned and oriented in the OCDS viewport, are just two of the most annoying problems I've seen.

Animation is still broken after all this time, and this is what I need the most for my work. So much for dreaming about the day when I start getting returns from my investments in this software, and in new GPUs.

So yeah, we're still waiting here for a decent update; if not a complete one then at least a STABLE one.
