The 'blue' RT setting issue is one a few of the original testers experienced in the early days but the one with the image file browser (see the video posted above) has only been something I have had so far!
Not any more!

I got it by changing from PMC to Direct Kernel, (I think with the option drop down open). This is the first time it's happened today. Been working on this pretty much solid now since late monday. I don't notice any other side effects though, so to me this is low priority.
Thanks for confirming this Sci Fi Funk ;)

I don't always get feedback on the issues I report, not pointing fingers or having an issue with anyone, its just part of 'forum life'!. when people do give feedback it is great as it feels like not all of my time is wasted compiling posts/videos & screen captures (etc) trying to help out a great dev, an awesome community and an amazing product. People are busy and posts can easily get lost in a forum when more & more posts are being added by the minute. We cant expect the dev (in any project, not focusing on Sighman here) to drop everything each time there is a new post or the product would never get made! I have a great passion for this plugin and the Carrara community and want to do all I can to help :D

I may not always get things right but that is why I love this community, there is always someone who knows more who is happy to either back you up & confirm your findings or correct you with the intention of providing the correct information and helping everyone learn and progress.

Orion,

Agreed. Perhaps the best way of proceeding (with reported Issues) Is to have a summary post somewhere for each of the reporters. Atm. I'm keeping my top issues in my head, but clearly that's not going to be practical moving forward.

Is this possible? If not, then an occasional reminder post? Just thinking out loud.

Congratulations on a great product!

I have done some quick testing. And everything seems to work fine!

The only things that did not render were carrara volumetrics, clouds, primivol and hair.

Since Octane supports hair, when can we expect support for hair?

Thanks!

Currently those things + hair are not supported :(

A couple of quotes from Sighman:
My biggest concern is the fact that I would not be able to support the native Carrara Hair system. At least not without getting DAZ involved.
Octane uses splines to represent hair. Each hair is modelled separately, there are no guide hairs. I have tried creating spline objects in carrara but when I access the geometry I always get triangles back. Once again Carrara hides the internals from the SDK which makes my job difficult when it comes to hair.
With regards to volumetrics, clouds, primivol..

Sighman is working very hard every day on this awesome plugin and no matter how many hours he squeezes in to one day, he is only human.

This plugin has reached a highly evolved state already in my book, but like evolution.. it does not stop and I am sure Sighman wont either ;)

One minor bug.

After rendering for a while, if I go back into the sequencer and try to drag keyframes around I get an error occured. If I exit and come back in again all is well. This might not even be a plug in issue, but I've not had it before in 4 years on 8.1. I am willing to accept it could be the scene file(s) but it's happened on a couple of different scenes now.

Thanks for the quotes! I'm very happy with the plugin. Let's hope DAZ opens up the internals!

I have joined the Club..Yay.!!

VERY IMPRESSIVE beta release. Colour me one happy customer..

If we could somehow manage to get Carrara Hair I would be over the moon, but I do understand that, that particular feature is in Daz's hands..SOO......anyway.

Looking forward to the continued development of this plugin.

I would love to have some community tutorials for things like setting up basic area lights / emmitters etc.

Oh and for some reason when I try to download the Octane live DB, Carrara and the plugin Locks up. I have to use task manager to close everything down.. Not over fussed at this stage..maybe its something I am doing wrong.

Looking forward to once again working in Carrara.

Peace,

I'm perplexed by a difference in my render. I'm thinking it's because a setting isn't saved. I am aware that the Octane settings are not saved and I'm only working with 2 of them atm anyway (glossy depth and Max samples).

There is a difference between my test render from yesterday (right) and todays "full" render. The scene hasn't changed and I've re-applied those two settings.

To me it looks like the emitter is doing more in the original pic. It's brighter (see sink and the right outside of the booth). I check the emitter settings, they are default black body.

I've tried this in .0047 and .0048, same result. Is there any other setting that might be forgotten atm that would have this effect?

Many thanks

There are settings under the Imager which allow you to adjust exposure in a number of ways, is it possible you adjusted one of them?
