Sorry guys if I don't answer some obvious questions or PM's - I'm working on several different things at the same time right now, so can't spend the time on forum so far...;)

In my alembic file, I have a whole lot of extra material nodes. they start with mesh_ then the material name. But it seems like I have a different node for each object that has that material on it. So my scene that has only 5 materials ends up with about 20 material nodes. Anyone else have this problem?
And what amount of objects you have (which use these materials)? What amount of frames was exported?
kavorka wrote:Next, I setup and exported my animation for 29.97 FPS. a total of 300 frames for ~10 sec of animation. When I then bring it into Octane, it comes in as 24 FPS. When I change it to 29.97 in the LUA script, it changes my frames to 375. Am I doing it wrong, or does it only bring in alembic files for 24 FPS?
So far Blender sends the 24 framerate by default to OctaneServer, and there is no feature implemented to change it in current version. I will add it in next version.;)

First, I should note that I am not using octane materials in Blender. I opened an older scene which had basic materials applied just to give me the pins in Octane.
When I click on my leather material, it says there are 4 objects using it. In Octane, I see 4 pins labeled mesh-leather, mesh-leather_1 ect. For another material, I have 5 objects using it, but I see 10 nodes for it in Octane.

Also, I just realized all of my geometry was duplicated :(

I downloaded the new version of Blender octane edition and am having trouble using it.
My scene has a few objects and is locking the whole computer lot.
When I close the server only, back to normal.
I do not know what can be.
I have an i7 and 16GB of RAM.
There was fighting with the old version of Blender octane edition.
And this scene is the same that I've used the old version .. (without being slow) is exactly the same now.
And I'm also having problems in exporting alembic files.
however I change the path and leave without the file name, not exports. abc only a few black images in. png.
I have already put in full, global, well, all options and nothing work ..
Could someone give me a hint what to do? step by step?
Thank you very much.

Little note to those trying to install this on a fresh windows 8.1 system: Won't work, as the 2008 x64 distributable was missin gon my system ... fixed that by download it from MS.

PS: We have an app in 2014 depending on some crap from 2008? :)

I am still experimenting in Octane around the alembic_export.abc node : None of my Octane nodes created in Blender are present Inside. Materials are empty. It is probably normal because I have read in a topic that the alembic format doesn't support materials, but the names of the materials not even display in the node inspector or nodes pins in the node graph, although they appear in the pop up materials list viewport when clicking with the right mouse button. Once created in Octane, the node materials names are still "diffuse", "glossy", and can't be changed. The weirdest thing is as I said before that the real names appear in the viewport when clicking on the right button... so, is it a bug or am I missing something one more time ?

Ask the Blender developers about it.

When I render Material IDs material's colors are being changed from frame to frame. For example: frame 8, frame 9, and frame 10 of the animation sequence.

I assume this is because Octane Server gets every new frame as a new scene and sets random colors to materials... but is it possible to fix this anyway? Or the only way is rendering scene exported to the alembic file?

Hi JimStar

Great work.

But, I don't understand how to make camera motionblur realistic. Because it does not take the moving of camera into account.

Thanks

Ask the Blender developers about it.
Since I've never had problems with the builds from the Blender Institute itself (or my own builds), I think the problem is the way you guys build your custom Blender executable.

Not that it's a showstopper, just pointing out.

EDIT:
what actually IS a problem is that this isn't noted in the documentation (at least when I installed it for the first time).
