MagnusL3D wrote:Regarding building procedural shaders, i love it...but (and maybe all this have been said already)

- Alot of times I cannot discconnet nodes from each other
- I can add several connections to one input which makes things unstable
- When I delete a node with several connection to one input pin it crashes
- Sometimes when I delete a node it's incoming connection all get stuck up in the left corner of the area

In general it crashes alot and behaves strange but I so so so want to build procedural materials !

use the nodestack editor, we still need to iron out some node connection bugs.

Radiance
Aah ! yes that seems alot more stable thanks ! =)

enricocerica wrote:Duno if this has been reported yet, once you arrive to the amount of samples you cannot select any material in the scene and you cannot restart the rendering anymore neither by moving the camera nor by selecting the restart button, is it just me or do other meet the same problem ?
Yeah, that's a blender export script issue.
when not rendering an animation, you should not pass the maxsamples parameter.

it's by default very low, so people export a single frame, it renders for 10 seconds and is then finished.

Radiance
I do not think that is normal, that once reached the number of samples can not do anything else, because there is no way to start the render again. And I have not used the blender script, I have simply made a render up to the limit I set previously.

Cheers

I'm not sure what the difference is, but I set up a render with a max of 2000 samples last night. This morning I saved the image and made a change and it started to render from the beginning.

I tried writing the png, putting the number of samples to 2000, loading a scene from a .ocs, importing an obj and always is the same. When it comes to the number of samples, I can not do anything else, I have to close and reopen.

Thanks alot YoonKyung!

I disabled the SLI in the NVidia Control Panel and the octane worked perfectly, very fast! I'll post the results soon!

Elvio wrote:Hey Guys, I already did a test on RC3 but i found some problems with MultiGPU activated.

I have 3 GTX 480 SLI Mode

Here are the results:

1 GPU | 500 samples | 15.45 MegaSamples = 1:19 min

2 Gpu | 500 samples | 23.00 MegaSamples = 00:50 sec

3 GPU | 500 samples | 23.50 MegaSamples = 00:49 sec

My third video card is being discarded.

I think the MultiGPU mode need more adjustments.

Here is a printscreen of my scene and a little further down a printscreen of the DeviceManager

Elvio -> Did disabling the SLI option in the control panel improve it ?
can you post results here with 1, 2 and 3 cards ?

Thanks,
Radiance

Hey Radiance!!

Sorry for the delay to respond to your message. I turned off SLI and BOOM! Really fast! The SLI should be turned off. The only problem is that now my Nobreak not supported the 3 video cards. I bought one today with 2,000 W to support it! I'll post the tests again when the nobreak is ready because it needs at least a day charge before using it. (If I had known before about GpuX I would have saved lots of money!: (..) I'll buy a GpuX this week!

Cya!

On Linux multi-gpu test.

It works well, and most of figures are almost same to Windows,

But if I change the resolution in multi-gpu environments, Octane is hanging up.

For those that are having a problem with trying to start a new render after Octane has completed the # of maxsamples successfully, try this:

Set the # of maxsamples higher, it should restart rendering, once it starts to render you can set it back to the original figure.
