any news on a native m1 Mac build? cycles renders much faster natively than under rosetta which is why I was hoping for a native build of both

For reference an early native build is available here: https://github.com/skwerner/blender/rel ... .0-mac-arm

Sometimes it feels like OctaneX is dead in the water. I wonder how many people are actually using it, after all the fanfare? I mean, it’s mainly a small subset of people who bought Mac Pros or use an eGPU setup. Feels like a fairly small gang to be a part of...

Dont get me wrong - I think it’s great what Otoy is doing for us, and the technology is amazing. But it does feel like some of the original excitement has gone. Updates are slow to come (PR8 was supposed to be last month), and there’s so little buzz about it any more. I’m just bored of waiting for it to be finished, since that first Mac Pro announcement all those years ago.

It's been great for me during the pandemic. :) I use it on my home Macs (Houdini, Maya), and then export to .orbx to render on my studio CUDA network. My iMac with 2x5700XT is certainly fast enough as a workstation. And the 16GB VRAM of the internal 5700XT is nice for Houdini OpenCL.

The performance per watt of the M1 looks insane. Looking forward to seeing what a 100 Watt version can do vs. the current ~10 Watts.

Are we getting to a point that Octane X will be able to use Windows Octane Render Nodes?
