seem to have a small issue with window refreshes.
stopped a render, open another from recent list, do you want to save -no = black screen but with usual import/voxellising popup --> at end refreshes and runs ok, material window refreshes with the first view update.

a material with a portal gets an icon in the outliner - very nice but its elliptical? rather than round not a biggy ;) now if only an emissve mat could have a distinctive glow icon... :)

memory display. Abstrax said that now the memory display shows the available memory ,
but that cant be true . with my GTX 285 i could easily render project up to 900mb of
the 1000 mb available. now octane tells me i only have 1033 mb of 1500 available.
that's almost 500mb missing somewhere .(no other application running )
that must be a bug .

I have just tried with a small scene : first impressions are not good :

1 - The new refreshing way is slow. It looks like Octane has lost its responsiveness and is less interactive : several seconds to see a material modification in the render screen. A fast refresh is also useful when rendering big scenes : it is an indications that Octane is actually rendering.

2 - I confirm that Hot pixel removal doesn't work.

3 - fps information is really missing and doesn't allow comparisons with other releases. It is also usefull to estimate rendering time at n samples per pixel for example.

I am going to test it with my heaviest scene...

Perhaps there should be a slider to set the screen refresh time? 1 - 100s :roll:

portal is intended for windows and skylights. you put a rectangular plane covering the opening and give it a portal material. normal faces out I think [correction: - its in] ...its like a concentrator/accelerator for the paths

for portals ,does that mean i have to place a plane in to the window hole or can i apply the portal to the glass ?

New tests :

- png Alpha images don't work : No transparency in transparent areas (Checked with paths tracing and PMC). Very annoying bug, because no transparencies brings us back in the very early age of Octane and means Not usable ! Please look at the renderedimages below.

- Loaded a big scene (8.7 Millions faces triangles) and attempted to relink a scene of around same weight with modified geometry : in 2.47 test it relinked with missing objects and broken materials. In 2.48 test it crashes Octane at the end of relink process. :roll:

For the memory amount displayed, according to what displays EVGA Precision monitoring software, it looks +/- correct : EVGA Precision displays an amount of 160-208 (fork of values seen with various scenes)used on each GPU even when idle. I got with a big scene 2400/2872 on my 3GB cards.

I don't know what you are saying, I tried everything and I get the same results with the portal whatever I do, I tried to put the plane inside the house, outside the house, fliping normals, with different lighting setups and nothing works, can somebody provide a REAL example of how this works in Octane? because I cannot make it work.
