Looks like it is 3dsmax 2013 issue. I will fix it.
In 2012 it is only 5% slower. Don't forget, 3dsmax shows whole time of render time + voxelization. But standalone shows you only render time.

i been using the plugin but is there a way to export directly to octane or i need the old plugin?
win7 64bits/ i7-3930k /32GB/ 3x GTX580 3GB/octane max 3.00d

What do you mean "directly to octane"? You want to use standalone? If so, you have to use old exporter.

It would be useful to show the voxelization time in standalone too, otherwise this kind of "Max is slower!" comparison is always going to come back.

of course I know that max counts voxelization time as render time but anyway difference is TERRIBLE in 3dsmax 2013
