The GK110 which should be released in August-October is rumored to have 4GB Vram as a standard with 512Bit bandwidth and Nvidia already said that the GK110 will have a bigger focus on GPGPU. So I'd say one should wait til the GK110 comes out. If it's true that it will have a 512 interface than the possibility for 6GB+ Vram cards is very very high.

The problem is what the gk110 will be, a gforce or a tesla/quadro...

One question about tesla:
Can I plug it into my computer like any other card or is it something like an add-on card to a Quadro??

Do you have a source for this information?G1X wrote:GK110 in May for Tesla, Quadro GPU

It's basically like a graphics card without display connector, you can plug it into every computer with a PCI-E x16 slot.mbetke wrote:One question about tesla:

I was recently at a convention and spoke with an nVidia tech guy who told me that the nVidia GK110 chips were going to be full double floating point precision. And while I know this isn't a really big gain for Octane, it does suggest that it is most certainly going to be aimed at GPGPU.

If you search the forum, the answer is simple, the 580 beats the hell out of a 680.
But there is a little side mark, this octane version is not build for cuda 4.2.
So maybe in the near future the 680 will out preform the 580.
No body knows.
I dunno what kind of card you own at the moment, but maybe its better to wait until September/October for the gk110.

Hi Elvissuperstar007
I have checked one or two sources and according to the sites the performance is close to that of a GTX 590. The primary benefit of this card compared to the last generation is much less power consumption, but keeping the performance side of a GTX 590. Though, I would wait a little while for a new octane release which supports kepler architecture fully.
