Instancing is still in development, this thread is about SSS.
We'd rather spend our time getting the next release ready than post more previews.
We're still hard at work though, and there is much left to do, so don't expect something tomorrow... ;)
It takes time to do it right.

This is good news. However i have been testing Cycles for 2 days and i must say that cuda pathtracing is alot faster and converge faster.
Not to mention Translucent materials and many different shaders... and Instancing already available.

I can't even begin to imagine how boring that would be to watch. Programming is one of the least colourful jobs. Sit at a computer and hack away at your keyboard... They'll never move!

P.S. I know you're joking.

I'm very excited to hear that SSS will be in the next test release !
SSS technics are improved all the time in CG, as you can see in this recent research paper at Siggraph 2011 :

I'm sure it'll inspire Radiance and all this wonderful team at Refractive Software ! ;)

That's what I would need right now.. Any chance we get SSS before the competition ends?

I will assume it's pointless asking when to expect beta 2.6 as you can clearly see there is no reply because all developers are busy with coding :ugeek: . I have to point out that's it done when it's done, which will probably be before the competition ends.

Radiance,
Please consider the implementation of fresnel effect on reflective materials. The lack of reflective fresnel effect gives an amateur look to architectural scenes, especially on interiores. It´ll be highly appreciate!
Thank you

Another vote for this.
I have asked before but I don't know if it has just been overlooked or if there is some other reason it has not been added yet.
It does not seem like it should be a difficult thing to add, but not having the skills myself it is difficult to know for sure.
Fresnel reflections can make a huge difference in the realism of a number of materials.
