don't really see the point . shouldn't portal light speed up the rendering,IMO yes.
but here it is slower then specular ??.I am normally not the person who complains
but i don't really see the point of this release .am I the only one ?

+1

agree more glitches, the alpha channel that worked .... does not work, material properties, too,

buns .. this portal and an online library, more of something new has been said, and where an outbreak?

Bug: There are dot pattern like shadows in direct lighting (and less visible in pathtracing).
Could you please post an image?

Thanks,
Marcus
Sorry Abstrax, I am not in my office right now.
Anybody else experienced the "dot patterns" in direct lighting mode of 2.48?

hhello,

after some time (4 or 5 minutes) one GPU is fails. i can swich beetween card (remove one, add one in pref), but same result. after some time, render continus with only one card.

cuda v4, driver 275.33, w7-64bits
(temp card no fails 74°, card fails only 66° so is not temp fault)

you might say what cards you have to help with debugging.... :geek:

btw all I think the fps is updating every 5 seconds with the time and samples. its just more averaged/stable than before. less screen updates for minor info is a good thing IMO cos thats more time rendering, although, it might be nice to see say a wee green go light or orange for paused and red for stopped there after the time just to see the render status at a glance...yeah I know no ideas and suggestions... :?

edit: the traffic light would be good esp for big res renders that sit there for 30 secs before updating - on my 460 anyway

Environment rotation seems not to work anymore as well.

I don't understand why in a new release some functions do not work anymore.
I expect that everything works at least as good as before and even better.

If you would do serious tests before you post a new release you would find out that alphachannel and environment rotations do not work anymore.
I know there is a huge competition between all the rendersoftware firms and everyone wants to be the first with a new productrelease on the market and you must feel strongly under preasure.
But it would be better if you work concentrated one or two more month on this release but then you have a serious tested release and betatesters will find only the hard to find bugs.

Octane is still the fastest GPU based renderengine but by all the efford you do I feel a bit ripped if you release a betaversion which has such basic bugs.

Please correct me if I missunderstood something.

Kind regards
Alain

@delgorgue - in the sig - sorry small item overlooked by old man eyes :geek: ;)

@Alain they rewrote a lot of code to get multi-gpu working again after cuda changes.
this was a big mission. we are asked to find now issues with that but also there is bound to be stuff they have broken or missed. people should be happy to see multi-gpu back and that the bugs are relatively minor 8-)
