Thank you.
Hello, SimDal
please, give me some information!!!
tell me if you do not care to develop blender that I try a different solution. I have not seen any news that makes me think that the v.3 plugin for blender is almost ready.
I hope to be wrong.
give us some precise information. please!!!!
thank you

It is absolutely crazy.
Why Otoy developers cannot tell us the true?
Maybe they have forbidden to develop Blender plugin by their partnership Autodesk...
Autodesk hates Blender, it is known.
If it is true, tell us about it a we will go by our way.
But please tell something, anything.

Sorry my English.
The Blender plug-in is unique in that it requires us to build and release a special version of Blender itself along with a custom wrapper for Octane plug-in to work within Blender's GPL license restrictions. This is a lot more work than any other plug-in. We have managed to keep this step manageable for incremental updates, but V2 to V3, is a major update.mirobimbo wrote:It is absolutely crazy.

With the changes in V3, we have had to refactor a lot of the GPL related code in the wrapper, and this means months of work specific to the Bender plug-in's move to V3.
We are working to complete this process as fast we can. Once it is done, Blender 3.x updates will happen rapidly from that point onwards.
Thank you for your patience. We are fully committed to our Blender community.
Thanks Goldorak,
I believe you absolutely. I think you are the best, so I bought the upgrade to 3 blender without ever having seen a beta or screenshot.
you can estimate how long we have to wait to see the version 3 of blender?
I love my job and I want the best, like other Blender users.
thanks for everything.

Unfortunately, no news means that it's not ready for a release yet ... We have to wait ...simdal wrote:any news?

Octane Newsletter:
As you may be aware, the special v3 'Combo' upgrade offer will end on Wednesday 31 August 2016.
However, for Maya and Blender users, due to the extended delay in releasing V3 versions the special upgrade price will continue indefinitely for the Maya and Blender plugins.
--------
WTF! Does this mean we are NEVER getting the plugin? There's something wrong with the morality of this company. They do this all the time. Hype the crap out of a product, take money, then deliver a half-fast release with promise to make good on their word (when its convenient).
I don't know why I even bother. I paid for the upgrade twice (v2, and v3), and both times it get limited functionality (in this case, no access to the features in v3 ... topped with the inability to export the scene). Not to mention the despondent support and non-existing progress reports. For all I know, the developer quit. By the time they get this sorted out they will release V4 and want to be paid again. If OTOY wants an interest free loan, go to Kickstarter or some other crowd funding site.
Stop deceiving your customers!

Not terribly encouraging in terms of when the Blender plugin will be ready….."...due to the extended delay in releasing V3 versions the special upgrade price will continue indefinitely for the Maya and Blender plugins."
At least Otoy has helped me refine one of my better virtues. I first mastered patience when I started down the road of 3D rendering (even with speedy Octane). Now I can further refine this virtue awaiting the release of my already purchased but non-existent 3.0 Blender plugin

Seriously, though. I would much rather wait for a SOLID offering than something buggy and unstable. This is in the interests of both customer and developer. What bothers me more is the paucity of communication from Otoy and the developer. While the few posts by Goldorak have reaffirmed Otoy’s commitment to the Blender plugin and explained the delay, some kind of monthly progress report at least would be welcomed.
Since that post it has only been a little over one month. Goldorak specifically stated “months”. I do share kraken’s concern, though, over the use of the term “indefinitely” in Ottoy’s recent newsletter post.Goldorak wrote:With the changes in V3, we have had to refactor a lot of the GPL related code in the wrapper, and this means months of work specific to the Bender plug-in's move to V3.
