Someone in the benchmark thread mentionned Octane 2.13, and the fact that it speeds up renderings with Maxwell GPUs.
Does anyone know when it will be released ?

Hi Juan,

Can you confirm if the heading direction when using an HDRI and the Daylight Environment Node is working with the latest build?

The problems I am having are:
- The HDRI is displayed differently in terms of rotation (using the same settings) when using Environment:Texture and Environment:Daylight with HDRI and,
- The HDRI heading does not change when the heading value in the Daylight node is changed. Neither dynamically in IPR or on reload.

Thanks,
Carlo

A few issues I've found with the latest build 2.12.1

** Octane Colour Correct Texture - the Contrast parameter resets to zero on reload scene
[EDIT: I just learned this was mentioned and resolved in another thread]

** IPR Material picking 'through' objects flagged as hidden to camera or 100% dissolve doesn't seem to work as intended. IPR selects no materials when clicking over a hidden object.

** Using the Render Passes node, AO does not show object motion blur.

I am testing both issues and here all works fine. Are you sure that you have the same settings in the HDRI tab of the Daylight node and in the Texture environment node? Also heading seems to work fine here.

Can you please send to me the render target or the scene file that has this problem?

Yes, the first problem is already fixed for the next release.

You are right. The material picking through objects unseen by camera or full dissolved is broken. It was a side effect of the new native Octane materials picking functions. It is fixed now for the next release. Thanks for report it.

Also you have found a bug in the render passes node. The Distributed Ray Tracing option was not working at all, so all the Info Passes didn't have motion blur or depth of field effects. It is also fixed now for the next release.

Thanks again for report this problems. If you need a custom build now with this problems fixed to complete your project, let me know ;)

Hi Juan,

Please see attached. Looking at my nodes while making the test scene, I see the problem presents itself when you are mixing HDRIs.

Carlo, the problem is the Mix Texture node. The issue is that the render target nodes (both Texture and Daylight environment) only supports the texture rotation transformations if the Image Texture node is directly linked to their texture inputs. If you put any node between the image and the render target nodes, the rotation parameters don't work.

You only need to remove the texture mix node to be able to rotate the HDRI backgrounds.

Thanks Juanjo, I can wait for the next release.

Liking the update especially the improved mouse scrolling/panning in IPR
