I have a GeForce GTX 760 with 2048mb of vram. I thought that was adequate for the use of Octane. :(

2 Gigs is fine, you just have to get used to texture management. Most DAZ textures are 4096*4096 and that eats up memory like crazy. If you don't do texture management you'll get in trouble even with the craziest video cards.

Think about how large a figure is going to be in you final render. If a person in the background is maybe 600 pixels high, you do not need a 4096*4096 pixel bitmap for the eye textures ;) 1/1 textures are only for extreme closeups or resolutions.

I have a problem which is driving me crazy. I can't get Octane to work in DAZ Studio. It used to work, but now I get the message that OctaneRender_settings.oczdb is not accessible. When I check the path I can see the file there. Size is 168 KB. I even checked the contents of the file using a SQLite content browser and can see my activation data there. I checked the permissions and it should be readable. I have no clue what is wrong. I ran the OctaneACM in the DAZ folder as administrator. But still nothing works.

The debug.log just says:

Please help!

Did you update to either of the new versions?

If yes, did you make backups of everything in %HOMEPATH%\OctaneRender\Data?
If no, do you have backups of everything in %HOMEPATH%\OctaneRender\Data?

If you have backups of everything, you can try an uninstall/reinstall, or just deleting that file and seeing if it'll auto-regenerate,then un-/re-installing if needed.

I would only do this with backups of everything OcDS related, pretty much all of it but the main plugin files is in the location above. Just in case.

It's looks like it's just the settings file, so my presumption is that it would default out your settings and regenerate a blank one if deleted, but that may not be how it goes, hence I strongly suggest you back everything up before trying anything.

Hi Sikotik13,

Thanks for your response. I did update to the new version, but I had the problem before, but I just gave up since I could work with Poser in 2.0. I did delete the settings file before, but it would only generate a 7KB file. The log than showed that it could not access the Settings table of the SQLite database.

I didn't find an uninstaller. Is there somewhere an overview of which files belong to OcDS?

Should just be what's mentioned in the folder above, then the files for the plugin itself in the Daz plugins folder itself. t_3 mentioned them by name in an old thread I think you posted in with install issues.

If memory serves, that should be it, and if you can find that thread again, I believe his instructions worked for you last time.

It worked, thanks!
if you needed to install a previous plugin version manually, there might be older file versions somewhere - means the octane.dll version and the plordazs.dll versions do no longer match (or the plugin dll is loaded multiple times); usually this is the reason for the error message shown. or maybe the installer couldn't form some reason replace one of the files.

within the daz studio program folders there are 3 files needed; in the daz studio root dir:
octane.dll
octane.dat
vcomp100.dll
and in ...\plugins\OctaneRender
plordazs.dll
note: in the plugins folder itself there should be none of these.

if you manually delete them, plus make sure that no files of these names are anywhere in the daz studio program dirs, and run the installer once again, i'd give it a 99% chance...
