yeah, vray is indeed cracked big time...

I saw that octane were present at cgpersia, which made me very sad... I think its a god damn shame, and i resent the cracker attitutde when they start shit like:

"Its a good thing for the developers, its the best way to get exposure and new potential customers"

Thats bullshit in a case like this... Whoever leaked it, its really not cool.

Its not long ago it was 50 $, and still, a guy with 4 computers kept saying that it was ok to try the cracked version to see if he liked it. Thats what demos are for, it is fully functional!..

Really gets me on edge when i know how hard you worked for this Terrence, would be such a shame to see octane ruined by this.

I know its a double standard, but cracked Autodesk, Adobe or Microsoft products is not a major concern i have, i think they will be financially secure forever, this is different.

i dont think the guy that leaked it was the one that posted...

I feel like a snitch, but honestly, he knew what he were doing.

The discussion there is very divisive and may you get new customers. :)
Forget the others, the most of them are hunters and gatherers.
All this is very unrespectful about other peoples work.

honestly Terrence, the chances that the one who cracked Octane is nothing but a cracker, is pretty big i guess... Probably just a guy from some crack group, which decided to purchase Octane from donated money, or whatever.

Maybe cracking can be a good thing in some cases, but the thing that pissed me off the most, was the timing i guess. If it were leaked from here, the person would now about the hard time you have been through. I think that is the crappiest part about it...

Dont think too much about it i guess, i think that this is inevitable that octane would be cracked someday, and with the new improvements, it doesnt matter anymore i hope :)

The debate is heated if you check it, a lot of people thinks it was a bad call to crack it.

I got so carried away, i really think it was respectless, given the time. But please dont haunt the users and kill them, that would make me feel like shit. As Mib2berlin said, you might even get new customers, lets hope that.

Have a good evening.

People who steal software, music movies, or digital whatever will always find dumb arguments to rationalize their theft, and have probably never created anything themselves.

Hi,

Maybe people can help us by removing cracked copies from sites/forums/download sites?
Or reporting them by sending a mail to us at info at refractivesoftware dot com ?

We've still a lot more to implement, the whole new system to deal with piracy so don't expect a release this week...
We might do one next week (i don't promise) just with cuda 2.3 and area lights for customers to test the stability and drivers for 2.3.

Hope that really occur within the next few days, I am sure many guys would like to see it there, hard work, we are waiting for it.

thank you.
