when does the studio subscription drop? i have a studio sub, and when i tried to run this, my c4d crashed upon "initializing plugins" every single time, without even getting to the program itself.aoktar wrote:OctaneX Enterprise PR7 for BigSur

Make sure C4D is running in Rosetta mode if you are on an M1. Studio/prime and demo builds (and standalone and render nodes) are all in progress. Takes about a day to build each one for Big Sur 11.1.choptavius wrote:when does the studio subscription drop? i have a studio sub, and when i tried to run this, my c4d crashed upon "initializing plugins" every single time, without even getting to the program itself.aoktar wrote:OctaneX Enterprise PR7 for BigSur

I have been trying to learn this software for a long time because have been giving up because it just never seems to work for very long. I am new to 3D and I have heard nothing but good things about Octane. Is this normal. Should I stop updating my OS when it asked me to?drunknbass wrote:I just upgraded to Big Sur 11.1 and was having problems w/ OctaneX PR5.
Has anyone else upgraded and still functional w/ PR5?

I am dumb but does that mean I can start again. I am taking the School of Motion Lights, Camera and Render class in Jan and honestly, I am starting to get worried that I am not going to have a stable release to take the class.aoktar wrote:Uploading it now!zazzi wrote:I know you guys love this question, but is there an ETA for the PR7 build for C4D? Even if it's a "this week" or "next week" instead of a specific day?
Genuinely curious as I was a little too quick to update to 11.1 today.

I took Ascent under the pretense this (and Redshift) would be released and stable in September w/ BigSur's release. Obviously BigSur being delayed was out of our control, but it's still not stable enough to use for the course work.
The OctaneX release cycle and confusion also throws you off with the amount of work they(SOM) give you. There were days that I followed twitter posts to this forum to facebook in circles after being told these things were ready. Rinse and repeat for 7-10 day intervals.
They acknowledge that this is prerelease software. They mean it.

That makes sense but I have talked to Support so many times and they have kept saying not to worry you have a stable release coming up in days. We get it then it is almost instantly crashing again, C4D updated, twice, and then Big Sur, now Big Sur 11.1. I'm sure it would be fixed soon. But for how long, Until another update?drunknbass wrote:

I have been an Octane user for a few weeks, I am happy that you are developing something new, and I am sure you will do a great job, but at the moment I cannot fully enjoy all the potential of this fantastic render engine.
I have the same problem as other users: I can finally see the denoiser in the preview but when I try to start a render the result is a totally black image.
When I activate the denoiser from the camera parameters, the render does not start.
The render fails even if I turn off the denoiser.
For the moment I can solve the denoiser problem with the standalone version; I look forward to your progress

I have a few Qs about the differences in enterprise vs studio regarding OctaneX.
Can you use enterprise to network render on a windows machine with NVidia cards? (not mixed, all on one or the other)
