I'm getting full system crash and blue screen if I change this setting in an image texture while live viewer is running...
4 times its happened now so I'm pretty sure it's a bug.

It does not work. here are 2 screenshots and a c4d file.
I must say the R20 file opened in R19 works. in R20 metal material is black in the preview and in liveviewre/rendering window. I'd need help with this issue. available for teamviewer if needed.
Edit: it did not attach the c4d file.
Edit n.2: file should be here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bbzg3trwvblgb ... 0.c4d?dl=0

You're doing wrong! Use "create metallic material" command and see specular_map slot, not specular.jelly wrote:It does not work. here are 2 screenshots and a c4d file.

With every textures? What kind of texture do you use? This cannot be bug on plugin side, but It can be a problem related with driver or hardware.mikeadamwood wrote:I'm getting full system crash and blue screen if I change this setting in an image texture while live viewer is running...

thank you, I was indeed doing it wrong
It's different from 3.0.8. My fault.

I have to agree specular map should always default to 1. There are only two types of materials that use the specular map, metal and the universal material. Universal material is typically going to be based around a PBR workflow which would include using a texture map to drive the metalness which will override the default the value. There is no reason not to have it default to 1 since it won't affect any of the other material types. Metal material is not a dropdown in the create material tab, if it was it would be easier to get used to creating it that way. Creating materials from a dropdown in the live viewer has never made sense to me, most people create materials from where where they manage them. I have included a screen shot of what Cycles 4D does for the create materials tab. Would be nice to have the ability to create the material presets from more then one location. Also would be nice to have its own menu instead of being inside of shader.
Sorry, I rechecked and shadow visibility is working. It was ambient occ that looked like shadow. Is there a way to exclude an object from casting ambient occ ?sagun wrote:Shadow Visibility doesn't work now in V4.0-RC5 .. It was working with RC2 . Is this an issue with this release or there is another way of doing this ?
I think I figured out way to get rid of AO. The default environment color was set to white and was casting ao. Now I changed it to black and doesn't look like it's casting ao anymore. BUT still , it would be great to have compositing options like c4d's default. I am also very excited with thew new light linking. Thanks so much for this.sagun wrote:Shadow Visibility doesn't work now in V4.0-RC5 .. It was working with RC2 . Is this an issue with this release or there is another way of doing this ?
