I have dual AMD FirePro D700 cards, which I don't think support CUDA. :/

We do, however, have a render slave with dual NVIDIA Titan Black cards, so I would hope that even though my local computer doesn't support CUDA, I could at least use the render slave while I'm working. The problem I that I can't even install Octane on my local computer, for some strange reason. Shouldn't I at least be able to install even without CUDA support locally?

Hi frankjrmi,
yes correct, your dual AMD are not supported, since Octane is a CUDA application and needs one or more Nvidia gpus. But you can add one or more to you system via Thunderbolt port and E-GPU solutions.
In this way you can use the dual AMD for the system and drawing while the Nvidia GPUs work for Octane only.
There some users with Mac Pro like yours and this solution here on the forum. You could start from this long discussion:

Hi bepeg4d,

So, I've been researching this issue, and what about Otoy's announcement that Octane 3 would support OpenCL cards like AMD? Does Octane 3 support OpenCL or not, and if not, any idea when that support is coming?

Hi frankjrmi,
no sorry, no OpenCL support in v3. That announcement is quite old, now there is a new road map:

Found. I activated the license for the second version of the second working machine. It is not allowed to run either version 2 or version 3.
Why are they linked?
I thought that I have version 2 and version 3 are independently from each other?

Hi ura,
the authentication system has completely renewed and now you only need to close OctaneRender to free up a v3 license. V2 is different and you have to sign-out from within the plugin and Standalone in the Account section to free up the v2 license.
On your OctaneLive page you can monitoring where and what kind of license is active or not, and deactivate accordingly.
Here you can find a more detailed explanation about the new authentication system and his new features:
