This is a third party plugin. So it's not owned by Otoy. That is where part of the complications come in. Otoy didn't do the work. While a lot of Otoy's plugins are third party, some Devs are more active that others. So it's less of an issue. It's been a challenge for us for a long time, but in truth Otoy would have never bothered to use their own resources to make a plugin for Daz users.

Right now I am not going to speculate on the forums what the future holds. Later, I can always retroactively say "I saw that coming" or what have you. Right now I am trying to be optimistic, because I don't really like the limitations of Iray, do really like the OcDS plugin (and hope it gets proper love), and like Octane in general. In fact I am really looking forward to some Octane 3 because of some features I could use externally and unrelated to Daz studio...

Oh my...
So, it's not an official product? I think I bought the plugin from this site (otoy)
Then who is this mysterious t_3? And Does he/she even work for Otoy/Octane?
If it's a third party, why it's sold on this website? Wow... don't you think it's a "fraud"? Or is it completely legal to do a business like this? I'm not a lawyer or something, maybe someone know about this?
Because It seems no one take a responsibility/don't really care about this product anymore. (and yet they still sell it!)
No matter how promising the plugin is, but it's more and more unreliable now. And the last update, even if it's not a complete mess, but still far from perfect.

p.s What's wrong with this year... I bought OcDS, Arkham Knight (PC), NBA 2K16 (PC) , and none of them works properly

It is an official product, or it would not be sold on the Otoy website. But there would be some sort of licensing agreement between the plugin developer and Otoy - i have a little experience and knowledge about business practice, and in these types of agreements/contracts, its usually the bigger party (in this case Otoy) that gets the better end of the stick, in more ways than one. Thats why i assumed that Otoy would have the rights to do pretty much what they want with the Plugin

I would not assume that. Otoy didn't commission anyone to make this plugin. Then it would be different. It's t_3's plugin. That's why his name and his partner are in the credits and not core Otoy staff.

t_3 is the primary plugin developer for the OcDS plugin. Sometimes they have a partner. They do not work for Otoy. You will find a lot of Otoy plugins are not made by the Otoy staff, there isn't anything wrong with that. It's what allowed for so many different tools to end up with plugins.

That's probably why it's taking so long for an update, the parties are working something out.

Otoy needs to take some responsibility, in the end many customers of the render engine will look at this as them or at least allowing a sub par solution be put out there. Case in point I am slowly learning C4D and will not use Octane plug in there due to this mess. I am disappointed in the plug in but still use it due to the Poser issues I had.

It is too bad the Poser Octane developer could not take this over he is fantastic and that plug in is excellent and updated often

So, I'm guessing by now, the official statement is:
"We will tell you about stuff soon."

That's immensely helpful. Thanks for going out of your way to inform us.
What a disappointment.

Every week that I read this forum, I regret buying into this plugin even more. Such a huge mess.
Further, I find it extremely deceitful that the plugin was used to entice me to buy Octane, to begin with.

In other words, if there was no real communication with whoever was working on the plugin, no real plan or roadmap about how to accomplish a finished product, or some resemblance of anything other than a supported finished product, it should not have been sold to me with a promise that it was "under development".

I feel deceived and cheated.

This is really sad. I have invested so much time and effort into this plugin that it really breaks my heart. T_3 has abandoned us for sure now. I do not think that Face_off will take over programming of the plugin. So it will most likely be some sort of compansation for us DAZ users. Like "heh you guys now have Iray, stop complaining, here is a 50$ voucher for other otoy products"

Sigh

I would not know why a company would single-handedly turn over all of it's customers of a certain product over to the competition...
There might be huge problems going on with the development of the DS plug-in at the moment, but I guess it is more than obvious that Otoy is trying to do something about it behind closed doors.

Although I know that everybody here is sick and tired of reading this: Try to stay calm and be patient

I'm sure Otoy knows that there is no other way but to find a quick solution for the situation, everything else would be unacceptable - I'm pretty sure, they're aware of that.
After all, they're running a busines...

For some case, that would still be a better solution rather than keep everything like this (uncertain). At least the company make a decision and take a responsibility to their costumers.
It looks silly on a short term, but not on the long term.
This case is pretty common on transportation business (Overload or delay, etc).
And a company that "depends" on customer's patience is absolutely running a bad business practice IMHO.
Because it would be just a matter of time before competitor can make a pretty good substitute product with more reliable/faster service.
About "Try to stay calm and be patient".
The one thing that can keep/help the costumer patience is "certainty".
Patience = time limit.
When there's no time limit, there's no patience, there's omission/ ignorance.
If you go to a restaurant for a lunch, and ordered your food. Will you wait it served until dinner time? No, right?
There's a limit when a "lunch" would be still on a "lunch time".
