It would be really a great thing ! Currently, I don't use Octane as much as I'd wish, because there is almost always (I've always been unlucky!) something wrong with my internet connection when I want to use it. Most of the time I'm stuck with 2.2 : that's the reason why I have posted very few images and no animation since Octane live release.

I don't know what all the hubub is about, I thought they promised a command line version that was not requiring internet from the time they announced the addition of Octane Live.

@Radiance : well, these days it is even worse and worse. I've friends around here who also have problems with Internet, but as they don't need it for serious things, they just wait when it's cut... or as they know very few about computers they call me in the hope that I could help them !
As if I had not enough problems !
For my own, today I have been without internet for around 30 min, and yesterday for almost 1 hour. And according to Murphy's law, it always occur when I've an important mail to send, or few time to make a research, or something to render ! Well, it may also happen at other moments, but obviously it is when I need it that I notice it !
I'm really very bored, at the point that I still use 2.2 most of the time. As my current scene doesn't require emitting materials and as it is possible to open a 2.2 scene in 2.3, I will switch later if required, if these troubles are fixed.
This past week, I haven't even tried to use 2.3 because of these internet failures.
Your post really give me some hope, because in my experience discussions with web providers generally don't lead to solutions other than switching to an other provider, and falling into other failures... as the lines are shared and so the same for all providers ! If it is a technical problem with distribution lines, it is not going to be solved by changing the provider.

Hi Radiance
Glad to hear you are working on a non-internet version.
We are moving our office at the end of this week and our internet provider just told us today that an error occured when ordering the new line which means we won´t have internet for about the first 2-3 weeks. If we switched entirely to octane we would have a serious problem at our hands. Granted, this is not an everyday problem and it will be solved but it is just one example of the law that everything that can go wrong will go wrong. The need to connect to the internet to render with octane is just one piece more that can break and cause trouble. One day this will break and the other day the next piece. The less "breakable" pieces are needed to work the less problems will arise.
Hope at least you have internet at your new office
