im not sure if any1 post the probl, but i get crash every time when i try to save image???

even with animation mode...

hello,

not sure if this is the right place to ask for some turn table animation testing on pre23_2 ver., but i notice on quite few of those that animations have hick-ups every few frames and i can't test that with my slow computer as it would take ages to do it. So anyone that can do full 360 degrees turn table animation to post results up. If its not just a vimeo or youtube recompression problem i recommend putting that bug on TODO list for future build of octane pre23 version.

If it is a real bug or problem it can be probably solved with better camera coordinates calculation. thx in advance to anyone that will test that up :D

Here is a bug I saw on the first run of pre 2.3 (Other files I tried worked well (and maybe a bit slower)

It's the same file!
rotating etc didn't help these parallel lines where always with the same angle and all I could do was change the color / width of them by rotating the viewport

Cuda driver : 3.01
Cuda runtime : 3.00
nVidia : GTX-460 768MB / 258.96 driver

Please tell me if I need to send the files too...

If you look in the forum, you will see that indeed there are resolution based problems in pre_23.

We'll release a pre_23_3 somewhere next week that will fix that. In the mean time, stick to "power of two" resolutions and (possibly) on GPU

A few bugs here and there :

I dunno witch of them are known so I'll mention all the bugs I remember so far and if you need me to tell more about a bug or even submit the file to reproduce the bug feel free to tell me

1) When you run Octane and select open there is this "wanna save first?" dialogue... save what? I just opened the program!
2) sometimes you can't zoom in too much... (I raise the film to do it)
3) Is the rotation turntable or not? sometimes things tilt a lot
4) the turntable animation seems not to work ok... especially if you play with the distance button. The first frame uses the viewport you see right now and is not centered like the other frames
5) some times on 3d max I export (using the exporter for Octane) a scene where I have to meshes with different materials each but when they go to octane they have the same material
6) there are numerous times the rendering restart when it is not needed to restart (no setting is changer). When I leave a render to finish I want to browse around my settings (I am the kind of guy that goes : Did I left the light on when I left to work? Did I remember to hide that dead body? lol) so I kind of hate it when for example I press just the tabs on the node inspector like preview kernel, preview camera) and the render starts over
7) similar thing : Put a move/rotale lock button so we don't accidentaly move the viewport when we select mats
8) at seldom times when I renew a file (I think when I save over with some object less meshes in but in the same octane file) the mats gets confused (for example the grass mat goes to the wall of the building
9) the lights don't seem to work all the same (check uploaded file)

Bug hunting is kind of a hobby for me! When you think of synthercat think of bugs (errr that doesn't sound well :P )

Here is a weird one :
Check these 3 pics

When I use light power of say 1 to 1.71 all ok from 1.72 to 4.31 darkness falls on my render! then after that range all is bright again :

PS. I am sorry if I am getting people bored by mentioning bugs found by others but I got no time to search the forums for specific bug to see if they are already found

I have a question about the transmission channel in the diffuce material type.
in 2.2b release i can achieve the translucency with a rbg color.
I'm using an HDRI and pathtracing of course...
