3) Up to now I used to render animations with opened plugin. I started just animating with the plugin closed: the point where it stopped yesterday
was passed without problems now...so it looks good at the moment
I would have thought it would be the other way around - I would have thought with the plugin open you would have less problems. But your results are interesting.
1) and 2) are unsuspicious. Temperature max. 64°C, ArchiCad is constantly using 28-30% of RAM. Vram also constantly at 825 MB.
Another thing you can try is to UNDER-clock your graphics card just a small amount (10%).
With the plugin opened rendering of a complete animation should be faster as ther's no reloading, am I right ?
That is correct.

Hi Paul,

sorry, sooner or later it stops with Plugin closed, too. :(
Especially when I render in HD (small previews like 640x360, SL10 didn't stop up to now).

That's how ArchiCad/Renderwindow looked like (last frame successfully saved as PNG was #316):
Image

At another try Archicad crashed during rendering (several times @different frames), I'll mail you a bug-report! Perhaps it's the same reason...

And now a remarkable rendering difference between
Plugin opened:_____ __ ____Plugin closed:
Image / Image

Why ? Materials in the project are all OK, no errors or so. I've made these two variants one after another, without closing the project. It's also reproduceable...
When rendering is stopped and the Plugin is opened again the preview is OK of course (=left image).

I just made another try (closed plugin): now several error massages "No Octane material found to match Archicad material...."!
"Warning on missing matrials" is on but no errors at opened plugin/viewport !

I'm curious what's that this time...(probably still the name-conflict within Archicad ?)
Another thing you can try is to UNDER-clock your graphics card just a small amount (10%).
Can you suggest a tool ? I've found Nvidia nTune but I get only bluescreens when starting it...

Thanks in advance & Greetings :D

Hi Artur
That's how ArchiCad/Renderwindow looked like (last frame successfully saved as PNG was #316):
You can see it appears to have failed at 1583 samples. This seems to point to a graphics card failure.

In the situation where your card fails (probably a H/W 999 error which is suppressed by the ArchiCAD photorender window), ArchiCAD will not crash. However the nodes will be in an uncertain state, so it you cancel the animation and try again, it might crash then. If you get a card failure like this, it is always best restart the plugin, or even better, restart ArchiCAD (depends on the severity of the card failure).
And now a remarkable rendering difference between
Plugin opened:_____ __ ____Plugin closed:
It appears both the grass and path material is not being picked up by the photorenderer. Would it be possible to send me the scene pls (I only need the path and grass - no other geom) and I will see what is happening. This would also explain the ""No Octane material found to match Archicad material...." error. In order to fix the previous name matching problem (where some ArchiCAD materials had a different name in the photorenderer compared with the general scene material name), I changed it to match on reference number. So if a material is not loaded, it means there was no material for that reference number. This should be easy to fix if I get a scene where it is happening.
Can you suggest a tool ? I've found Nvidia nTune but I get only bluescreens when starting it...
The CD that came with your graphics card should have an under/over clocking tool.

Hi Paul,

The phase where it stops varies...I can try to pick some more values if it helps you...

Well, up to now I only used to restart the animation (from Archicad-menue) from that frame where it stopped to render...so it is continued this way (perhaps to the next unexpected stop).
It appears both the grass and path material is not being picked up by the photorenderer. Would it be possible to send me the scene pls (I only need the path and grass - no other geom) and I will see what is happening. I'll prepare the file for you, I just need some time (there are some more materials than shown in the picture).

Many greetings :)

Hi Jeroen

There is a link on page 4 of this thread for 1.13b2. It should fix this problem you are having.

I am away for 2 days, but will "officially" post 1.13b is the latest stable release when I get back.

Also, BfPuVAK's animation rendering problem appears to have been fixed by UNDER-clocking his card. Handy tip for people who experience the same issue.

Thnx Paul,
I overlooked the 1.13b download.
The problem is fixed.

I encountered another thing while rendering an animation (seperate jpg's):
after rendering a bunch, the rendering seems to stop whitout any error, but it shows the Samples/pixel and Phase, but just does not continu rendering.
I have to stop The Creating Fly-through pop-up and start the animating-rendering again (gladly I can start with a last-rendered+1).
I am trying to monitor the temps of GPU, but I am not sure what the problem is.

This is the exact same problem that Artur had, and it was resolved by underclocking his cards a fraction. It is something I will raise with Otoy.

For me reducing Core Clock & Memory Clock both only by 10Mhz (MSI afterburner) seems to solve that problem.
No stopping at rendering animations for 3 days now...

May I ask what trees you are using (in the back in your last screenshots) ?

Greetings,
Artur

Thanx for tip.
I won't downclock my GPU yet while rendering for a few hours for small animation,
but if I need to render overnight I will have to.
The trees are from the standard AC library. I apllied material from DB and it is OK from distance but not from close.
Soon we will be able to use proxy objects and we can link to obj trees :D
